'Breaking News'
"Breaking News" is the top story at Bravo. The 13 part drama series, premiering Wednesday, goes behind the headlines of a fictional news network.
Lisa Ann Walter, from Emeril's short-lived sitcom, is the newsroom's outspoken executive producer. Tim Matheson, a recurring character on "The West Wing," plays politics again as news anchor and managing editor. Tim landed an exclusive with an MSNBC news anchor, who helped him prepare for the role. Tim says, "When I spent more time with Brian Williams, I sort of tried to develop my own style. And I would go home with a videotape recorder and do mock broadcasts and that was challenging."
"Breaking News" sometimes rips its stories from the real headlines, from sweatshop investigations to the overseas kidnap and murder of a newspaper reporter. Tim says, "We did do a story that was eerily close to the Daniel Pearl tragedy in Pakistan."
"Breaking News" is executive produced by "thirtysomething's" Ken Olin. His wife, and former co-star Patricia Wettig, rounds out the "Breaking News" cast as a veteran feature reporter and wife of the anchorman.
