Johnny Depp
Unconventional in real life, Johnny Depp is swashbuckling hero Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean."
Johnny is an actor's actor who shuns Hollywood. Now living in Europe with Vanessa Paradis and their two children, he talked about love at first sight and fatherhood. He says, "I remember seeing this back across the room. And then suddenly the back turned and looked at me and then walked towards me and it was over with at that point."
So now that Johnny has children, are we going to start seeing him do some softer roles in movies? He says, "I swore to myself I would just do the things that I could be hopefully proud of one day or that my kids could be proud of some day."
Blowing moviegoers out of their seats is nothing new for producer Jerry Bruckheimer, but Johnny Depp doing it with dental work is a different story. Johnny showed up on set with gold caps in his teeth. Bruckheimer says, "I said, ‘I love the idea, but when you smile, you're going to blind the camera and the audience.’"
Eighteen-year old co-star Keira Knightley found buried treasure and was rescued by the roguish Depp in her first American feature film. She says, "He's down to earth and very funny, and has the British humor down to a tee, which went down very well with me obviously."
"Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl" sails into theaters this July.
