Scooby-Doo Premiere
An animated crowd turned out in Hollywood for
the weekend premiere of "Scooby-Doo." And Extra
caught up with the amazing cast who's bringing the 33 year
old cartoon to life.
It seems the colorful crime fighting cohorts are about to make it big!
Assuming the role of damsel in distress, Daphne Blake is the ever-capable Sarah Michelle Gellar. Primed in purple and butt-kicking go-go boots, the "Buffy" star did her own stunts.
With blonde hair and good looks that could inspire confidence in anyone, the character of Fred Jones is being fleshed out by Freddie Prinze Jr. It was a role he says he just had to get. "It wasn't about pressure. I know that noboby can do this better than me." Claiming to be the world's biggest Scooby fan, Freddie owns all 340 episodes! But it gets worse… He says, "When I was 5 years old, I would go to church, and I would pray to the saints that when I came home my dog would talk!"
Bringing Shaggy to life is the versatile Matthew Lillard. He says about his role, "It's one of those things I took really seriously. I didn't want to be the guy who screwed up Shaggy." In fact, the actor took the role so seriously, he still can't seem to shake the lingo! He says, "It's terrible! I'm gonna do Shakespeare next and be 'like, to be or not to be…'"
And, let's not forget the turtleneck-clad Velma Dinkley, played by the not so nerdy, and oh so sexy, Linda Cardellini.
"Doo happens," June 14th in theaters everywhere.
