Cuban's Primetime Game Plan
Mark Cuban is real estate's biggest builder and the NBA's boldest owner. But now the battle of the billionaire boys is going to a whole new level: forget bank statements and spread sheets -- now, it's all about TV ratings. The Dallas Mavericks' owner is about to take on primetime with his new ABC reality show, "The Benefactor."
Cuban's new show takes 16 contestants and puts them in a 20,000-square-foot house for three-and-a-half weeks, while the mogul puts them to the test. "Most shows give you a project and you sell lemonade or eat a bug," Cuban explained to us. "But we create completely open-ended challenges where people have to think on their feet."
One by one, Cuban will pick off the contestants until there is one winner who will take home $1 million. "'The Benefactor' is a blast," Cuban told us. "The best way to describe it is ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.'"
And although there are similarities between "The Benefactor" and "The Apprentice," Cuban is planning on Trump-ing the Donald's show. "I love to compete," Cuban insisted. "If you win ‘The Benefactor,' your dreams can come true. The person who won ‘The Apprentice' goes to work in the morning. Which would you rather do? There's no comparison."
So does Trump fear getting dunked on by Cuban? "Nobody will beat ‘The Apprentice,'" Trump said, adding, "But he's a good guy. I wish him a lot of luck."
And you can have a ringside seat to the billionaire battle when "The Benefactor" hits primetime this fall on ABC.
