Madonna Cleans It Up
Forget Madge, the Material Girl or even Madonna, just call her… Esther? That's right, the word from Madonna at the New York stop of her "Re-invention" tour is that the Kabbalah queen has adopted the ancient Hebrew name, Esther. Madonna was even spotted in Los Angeles sporting a necklace adorned with an "E."
Everywhere we turn, Madonna seems to be opening
up. She was seen chatting with "Fahrenheit 9/11" filmmaker
Michael Moore backstage at her concert, Wednesday night, and
Friday, in an exclusive interview with "20/20," she
explains her new name. The pop queen tells ABC's Cynthia McFadden
that she wanted to attach her energy to a different name. Her
mother, who was also named Madonna, died of cancer at age 30.
As for life at home with her husband, Guy Ritchie, and her two children, Madonna reveals the reigning philosophy of her household: "Clean up your mess. Even my children have to clean up their mess, clean their rooms, manners, thank you, pick up your dishes, gratitude, being grateful -- that has to happen."
And when it comes to having used sex to propel her career, Madonna
says she doesn't regret it, but insists that it's in her past.
As for what she does regret, Madonna admits that at times she
has acted selfishly, bringing chaos to other people's lives.
