Checking Into 'The Terminal'
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg hit the red carpet Wednesday night, for the premiere of "The Terminal," and "Extra" got right on board.
Zeta-Jones admitted she felt a little jet-lagged
at the Los Angeles premiere. She'd flown all the way from
Europe, where she had just finished shooting her "Ocean's
12" love scenes with Brad Pitt. "Sorry, but somebody's
got to do it," Zeta-Jones joked.
In "The Terminal," Zeta-Jones plays Tom Hanks' love
interest, and she revealed to us that it was easy falling
for Hanks. "The better they are, the greater they are,
the nicer they are," Zeta-Jones admitted. "There
is never any ego, never any sense of hierarchy."
Hanks told us that he's proud of his latest role, in which
he plays a foreigner trapped in an airport for months. And
even after filming the movie, he revealed that he doesn't
mind spending extra time at the airport: "If you get
there five or six hours early, it's kind of like a little
trip to the day spa."
Spielberg told us the main thing that attracted him to the
movie was the chance to work with Hanks again (They last collaborated
on "Saving Private Ryan"). But Steven and his wife,
Kate Capshaw, had trouble choosing their favorite Hanks movie
from his impressive resume; Steven finally decided: "This
may be my favorite Tom Hanks movie."
Hanks' wife of 16 years, Rita Wilson, joined
her husband at the premiere, and the happy couple shared the
secret of their relationship: silly voices -- especially "caveman"
speak.
But more seriously, Speilberg noted that,
"The magic that Tom has is a gift."
But the true magic of Tom Hanks may be how talented and down-to-earth
this huge star is. He even had a little fun with the crowd
gathered across the street from the premiere, saying: "Look
at the stunning crowds. Can you get a shot of that? The police
have been holding up barricades since Easter."
"The Terminal" lands in theatres on June 18th. |
