Affleck Afflicted By Bronchitis
The London premiere of "Jersey Girl" was supposed to be Ben Affleck's big night, but while director Kevin Smith and co-star Rachel Castro worked the red carpet, the leading man was mysteriously missing -- and the reason was definitely cause for concern.
"Extra's" learned that Affleck was rushed to a London hospital with a bad case of bronchitis. Ben was reportedly so ill he feared he had contracted meningitis, an often deadly disease.
It's been a busy few months for Affleck. "Extra" was alongside the superstar when he stumped with Senator Ted Kennedy for higher minimum wage. Then it was a White House correspondent's dinner in Washington D.C. And finally, the diehard Boston Red Socks fan joined the team at a fundraiser in Boston before jetting off to London for the "Jersey Girl" premiere.
And while Affleck's rep told us he is now home recouperating in Boston, the superstar is still very sick. Hopefully he'll recover in time to start shooting his latest film, "Glory Road," later this month.
