About 'Extra'
Hitting its 4000th episode on September 12, 2007, "Extra" is the second-longest-running entertainment magazine on television. From films to fashion, television to music, "Extra" is the leader in breaking celebrity news and is front and center reporting up-to-the-minute, exclusive details.
To mark "Extra's" 14th season on the air, the series will kick off an exciting new branding campaign and tagline, The Good Stuff is Always "Extra." The show will also increase its emphasis on New York stories, and debut a new logo and graphics package.
"Extra" sets itself apart from the competition with signature segments including Rumor Control, the place of record for stars to clear up rumors and Couples News, Hollywood's authority on celebrity break ups, make ups and hook ups. Also returning is the popular Star Beauty Secrets segment and America's Most Eligible, "Extra's" nationwide hunt for available bachelors.
New segments debuting this season include Bachelor Pads, which takes America's Most Eligible to the next level by going home with the featured bachelors. New York Dish is "Extra's" new daily "gossip column" - harnessing New York City's top celebrity gossips, seated at a big apple hotspot, to serve up daily exclusive star scoops with New York flavor. In the new Extra Trendspotter, "Extra" forecasts what will be hot from fashions to hot new gadgets, months before Madison Avenue does.
"Extra" is anchored by Dayna Devon and Mark McGrath, who are backed up by weekend co-hosts/correspondents Tanika Ray and Mario Lopez. "Extra" has an experienced team of award-winning correspondents including respected Los Angeles based journalists Jerry Penacoli and Carlos Diaz, New York-based reporter AJ Calloway and music critic Jude Cole. Regular special correspondents include insiders Terri Seymour, "Extra's" American Idol expert, as well as, Beth Ostrosky, Katie Lee Joel and Dancing with the Stars Cameron Mathison, who are the eyes and ears of New York film, fashion, style and fun.
"Extra" is the only national newsmagazine that operates a bureau in Las Vegas complete with a newly-opened "Extra" Lounge in Planet Hollywood's Resort & Casino. Since establishing "Extra's" Las Vegas Bureau in 2005, "Extra" has landed one Sin City exclusive after another, including interviews with mega stars Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Beyoncé and more.
During the 2006-2007 season, "Extra" made international headlines, landing the very first television interview with Heather Mills McCartney. In her exclusive interview with Dayna Devon, Mills McCartney broke her silence about her much-publicized divorce from the legendary Paul McCartney. "Extra" was also first to obtain the shocking video of ex-Baywatch hunk David Hasselhoff drunk on the floor in Las Vegas and in another exclusive, "Extra" broke the story that Britney Spears had entered rehab.
"Extra" is the only entertainment magazine to bring today's hottest musical acts in studio for private jam sessions. Lifehouse, The Goo Goo Dolls, Chris Isaak, Hall and Oates, Nelly Furtado, Outkast and Earth, Wind & Fire are among the acts to have performed live on the "Extra" stage.
"Extra" is helmed by Senior Executive Producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey. Her senior production team includes Executive Producer Theresa Coffino and Co-Executive Producer Jeremy Spiegel.
"Extra" is also a force on the web with more than 6.5 million page views each month. The newly revamped Extra Online, accessible at www.extratv.com, breaks entertainment news stories around the clock with regular updates throughout the day. The site also features original content not seen on the TV show, including photo galleries, exclusive video clips, behind the scenes footage, and interactive elements like contest and polls.
"Extra" originates in Glendale, CA and has a fully staffed bureau in New York and Las Vegas. The show, with correspondents and producers around the globe, offers a half-hour edition every weekday and an original hour-long weekend installment. Seen in more than 95 % of the country, "Extra" airs on major market affiliates, including the key NBC Television Owned & Operated Stations. "Extra" is produced by Time Telepictures Productions and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
