It's been a rough year for folks in Michigan, but they've got something to celebrate now! Miss Michigan Rima Fakih won the title of Miss USA on Sunday at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino

Born in Lebanon, Fakih is first Arab-American and Muslim to win the prestigious title. The Michigan beauty moved to the United States when she was a baby and was raised in New York City. Fakih moved to Michigan in 2003, where she later became Miss Michigan USA.

Fakih also shoots down a report that her Lebanese family has ties to the terrorist group Hezbollah, telling "Extra," "That is absolutely, absolutely untrue. The only thing truthful in that article is the spelling of my name."

During the competition, the beauty queen nearly fell while walking in her long strapless gown, but managed to brush it off and beat 50 other contestants (including DC) to take home the crown.

Fakih will receive a one-year lease on a New York apartment, an undisclosed monthly salary and various health, professional and beauty services.

If she had won it without the political assumptions my that azzhole judge nunez. he was gunning for miss oklahoma. Regardless of whether one is blonde or brunette doesn’t make any difference. But being politically correct for the judges is a false win anyway. kudos to miss oklahoma!!!

To say she tripped is like saying an puddle qualifies for a great lake! Her foot got caught up in her hem and she kind of wobbled to her next step but she didn’t fall down or even go halfway down. It happened at the end of the evening gown competition and she had already been scored at that point. However, she remained poised and calm which is exactly what a Miss USA should do! She deserved to win. I thought she was the prettiest girl there from the get-go. And she had a great personality as an added bonus!

Wow, look at Extra and E and all media how they cover the miss usa………just because she is muslim and arab american………they totally ignore the news about her..the news about miss usa was the last at extra…….just shame ……i thought americans are americans no mater what they beilive in………i guess i was wrong……

You do not have to be born here, you only need to be a citizen ~ which given that she came as a child she surely has obtain. She is a perfect representation of USA ~ we are a melting pot, so anyone can be Miss USA ~ not just some blonde/blue eyed girl.

She won for her beauty, it shouldnt matter were your born. Saying if someone isnt born here for they shouldnt win miss usa those kind of words create hatred,prejudice, and ill treatment of different people.America wouldnt be a successful country if it wasnt for all the different nationalities here, think aboout it the worst food in the world is american thats why theres so many different nationality food restuarants that are better and more success. American foods equals burgers and mac and cheese , even pizzias from italy

Miss Oklahoma Morgan Elizabeth Woolard was ripped off. She was definitely the best contestant, but I didn’t expect anything to be different as Trump always initiates controversy for ratings.
