Tabloid: John Edwards a Wife Beater?

A stunning report in the National Enquirer claims that former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards punched his wife Elizabeth Edwards in the ribs after an argument over the holidays.

The abuse allegations reportedly come from a close friend of Elizabeth, claiming that Mrs. Edwards lost hope of saving their marriage after John punched her.

According to the Enquirer, Elizabeth suspected John slept with former mistress and babymama Rielle Hunter over the holidays, and she called him "disgusting" a "disgrace" and "dead in her eyes." That's when John allegedly slugged her.

The magazine also claims that Elizabeth plans to file domestic violence charges if John doesn't give her what she wants in the divorce settlement.

John Edwards is facing yet another scandal... with a North Carolina court ordering former Edwards aide-turned-author Andrew Young to hand over an alleged sex tape of Edwards with Hunter, but he has so far refused.

Publication of Young's book, "The Politician," precipitated the latest sensational headlines regarding the Edwards' marriage and his relationship with Hunter.

Diana ..Where have you been. The Enquirer has been right and broke this story a year before any mainstream news outlet..Actually people are saying the enquirer has been right on many stories.

What makes it a little scary is how main stream news either ignores stories or does no investigative vetting of people they like running for office..I think how they tore into Palin’s life..yet nothing on either Obama or Edwards…

Edwards is obviuosly way beyond a narcissistic creep. With all this going on during the campaign, where was the news media? Are they that incompetent? Or, as I suspect, they do no real investigative reporting, if it is a democrat..makes u wonder about everyone else who ran and one that actually won..what we don’t know..

And all the celebrities that back these candidates look pretty stupid right now..including Bonnie Raitt..who went around singing at Edwards campaign stops.

again it’s only ALLEGATION one side is only do the talking to sell the book. You cannot do this in our country writing a book without permission is a crime. How the people will know if all the story is true if the author is the only one do the guesting and talking he knows something but not everything.

He’s a SCUMBAG! Are you really surprised with any of this?! I used to think he was a decent man and gave him the benefit of the doubt, but now, what a loser! His wife is better off being an ex-wife and let the mistress deal with his deceitful ways!

To Diana - Apparently the National Enquirer has been correct on about everything so far, now hasn’t it. And even though they’ve long been considered a supermarket tabloid they just may win the Pulitzer Prize for this story, so I case that elevates them to a higher level. John Edward is a skunk & nothing can sugarcoat it. Maybe Tiger Wood’s wife, Elin, could loan Elizabeth a golf club.

I think it’s disgusting that you report on articles from The Enquirer which is notoriously full of untruths. Why don’t you check out the facts independently before you report the trash from other periodicals. If this turns out to be untrue you have created even more damage.
I’m not condoning what John Edwards has done. I was devastated when the story of his infidelity came out coupled with the truth about his baby.
