Hey Extra & Extra Fans, I’m No Doctor Or an Expert, But… As I posted at about 12:30am, Feb 9, 2010, ( The First time that I Have Ever posted in comment of Any story on Any site, I might add…) I LOVE SODA !!
I Especially Enjoy my Mountain Dew Throwback ! It tastes just like the Mountain Dew I fell in love with in my teens !! Yahoo…
“I Will Not be giving it up, just because it “May” kill me someday” !!
I don’t drink coffee, I Do Not Do Drugs, and I Don’t Have A lot of money to buy expensive clothes, shoes, purses, etc. I Have to Have some kind of Vices !! Lol… Besides, we all have to die of Something, Someday… Right ? Come on, Who out there agrees with me on this? Dont we have more important things to worry about ( and to try and avoid ), than soda?
What Do You Guys Think ???

I enjoy iced and hot, smoothe tasting Liption Green Tea with Honey instead of sodas most of the time now. I sometimes add a fresh lemon slice and a sprig of peppermint. Lipton Green Tea is calorie, carb, and sodium-free. Worth trying!

I use flavored seltzer, only carbonation and natural flavor (no sugar or sweeteners or anything else). Add a little bit of unsweetened fruit juice (all natural) and you have a decent soda.

YES TOO MUCH IS BAD, SO IS MILK ( CALCIUM DEPOSITS HEART PROBLEMS ETC)BUT DID YOU EVER SEE THE DAIRY INDUSTRY PONY UP FOR A SCORE BOARD OR ANYTHING ELSE? AT LEAST THE SOFT DRINKS PUT SOMETHING BACK. I BELIEVE I’LL GO HAVE A COKE, AND WHATS MORE I’M GOING TO PUT ( SHUDDER ) BOURBON IN IT! MY GRANDMOTHER DID IT AND SHE LIVED TO 103

If you use Dr. Pepper as a douche, will it give you cervical cancer?

I drink 6 cans of diet a day for at least the past 10 years. In great health. So no plans to quit yet.

The problem is not just sugar, it is the acid level that allows disease to grow in the body. It takes 32 glasses of water to neuttralize that acid. Also the carbonation takes calcium from bones and oxygen from muscles, oh and stretches the stomach. So I gave it up during HS for the sugar and later my nutritionist told me all the rest of the bad news. SODA IS JUST PLAIN BAD FOR YOU.

I have been drinking soda and juices for years.(since5yrs) I have yet to suffer from cancer nor diabetes. As many posters have pointed out that the study is flawed and deeply miss represented. some have even said that High Fructose & Corn Syrup were used. Those ingredients are not sugar nor sugar cane based. So I would agree with these posters. Sugar is not the problem here. It would be the other ingredients used. Ingredients, such as caffeine and artificial preservatives, like potassium benzoate.
But I do find that sodas have become overly too sweet tasting these years. I would prefer my cola to be more tart. Like the old 80’s version of pepsi and coke. In my honest opinion,I question the tv doctor that introduce these studies. a fake tv doctors(doctor Laura etc.) will never be a good substitute for a real doctors actual medical advice. Therefore I would ask posters to talk to a real doctor about their own health concerns.

please post the link to the real study or at least don’t suggest that you offer the link to the full study. scientific research and blogs aren’t one in the same.

So, did the soda in the Singapore study contain sugar or HFCS? That seems a rather important distinction to make, unless the point wasn’t so much to educate as to hype.

I hate modern “news” for doing exactly that.

I am so tired of TV programs talking about Sugar in Foods .. your Soda story caliming there is “sugar” in it .. have you read the label lately .. yes there is a sweetner .. it is High Fructose Corn Syrup … and a UC Davis study has concluded that HFS is not good .. you should correct your language .. there is NO sugar in Soft Drinks (unless you buy mexican soft drinks) … because American Corporate America has gone to using the cheaper (less healthy) sweetner of High Fructos Corn Syrup (in all food products) .. so they can increase their profits … at the expense of Americas health … One should try to eliminate the extensive use of HFS in their diet .. but it is a challenge …

Soda is no good no matter what way you look at it. Just got my family off diet coke due to the Aspertame. We now drink Zevia. All natural and tastes great!!
