'Idol' Contestant Cut for Criminal Past

An "American Idol" hopeful has already left the competition because of her trouble with the law.
Danelle Hayes received a golden ticket to Hollywood Week after performing "I'm the Only One" at the auditions in Denver, but Hayes never made it to Tinseltown.
Producers eliminated the Kirkland, Wash. native after they discovered her criminal past and she never got the chance to perform during Hollywood Week.

The singer's history includes a DUI, theft, driving with a suspended license and marijuana possession. Hayes is currently on probation and she would need permission to leave the state.
Hayes told Seattle's Q13 FOX, "I got arrested for a DUI... I made a poor choice." She continued, "I decided to drive drunk. It's not the fact that I have a DUI on my record, it's the fact that I did what's called a deferred prosecution so in seven years if I'm good, it's then erased from my record. But I then have to be on probation for those seven years where they're watching me and making sure I don't screw up again and get any infractions."
Hayes says producers encouraged her to audition again next year.

Doesn’t matter about one’s past, alot of movie stars & recording artist bounce back themselves from their mistakes. BUT, I cannoooot belieeve the results tonight, totally stunned!! I’m not good with names, but the girl with the cleft lip was way better than ms. curly Q & alot of the other ones, when they told her it was the end of the road for her, I noticed the judges heads were down & couldn’t even really look at her. What a shame and wasteful taste of good talent. Look at susan boyle, boy what a mistake they made then!! What are they looking for, barbie & ken?? I would much rather buy a cd of her music over any of the other 7choices they made tonight, oh,except for the 16yr old with a struggling past,he’s going to do good.
After watching the olympic pair skating last night and seeing the judges make a big mistake giving the gold medal to a loving couple that made mistakes, I thought to myself, i’m watching american idol tonight instead, now I don’t know if I should watch anything that has to do with judging in it.Not to mention its pretty sad to see a young artist trying to make his dream come true & come on this show & have Kara drooling all over you, pretty sickening!
