PETA Ad Uses Michelle Obama's Likeness without Permission

A new PETA anti-fur ad is under fire for using a Michelle Obama photo without permission from the White House.

PETA ad uses Michelle Obama's likeness without permission

PETA says Carrie Underwood, Tyra Banks, Oprah Winfrey and the First Lady are "among the most stylish and influential women in America," and "they all refuse to wear real fur."

The animal rights group is saluting the women with the poster, which is plastered in metro stations in Washington, D.C. as part of their "Make D.C. Fur-Free" campaign.

"We did not consent to this," a spokeswoman for the first lady said on Tuesday.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk says the group didn't seek Mrs. Obama's consent because they know that she can't make such an endorsement.

Newkirk tells "Extra," "We haven't asked the White House to fund or promote the campaign, as they can't do such things, but the fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn't wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA's eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous"

PETA is an INSANE company. They shouldn’t be allowed to do anything with anyone.

Ever.

Too bad. It’s all part of being the celebrity president’s wife. The media will just stick her/his photo on anything non-political to perpetuate their fantasies, and feed their agendas

I can’t respond to the poll because it doesn’t offer my choice. Is it permissible for PETA to point out that a public figure like Michele Obama doesn’t wear fur, and to use photos to show that, even photoshopped photos? Yes. Is it permissible for PETA to imply that she endorses PETA? No, but I think we ought to be focused on whether that is the implication here?

I bet everyone of them eats meat…maybe sickly Tyra Banks doesn’t but she is starting to look so much like ET maybe she can get the part for the next sequil.
Oprah and Michele can get casted on planet of the apes…with those big arms you would think Michele would cover them up. Yes she does look like a dragqueen.

Be aware of what PETA’s ultimate agenda is: “Yes, 25 years from now, if we had solved the dog and cat
overpopulation problem, we would not
have a surplus to place in homes. And if we had required
sterilization we would not have animals from whom to breed…So there would still be dingos, jackals,
wild dogs of Africa, who live full and complete family lives
but the domesticated dogs could be a being of the past…I don’t believe
it morally right, were dogs to disappear from the planet
because we stopped exploiting them, to start producing them,
in order to bring them into our homes to enrich our own
lives.” Ingrid Newkirk, PETA. Prodigy Interactive Computer Service, Sept. 1, 1993

They should play by the rules. And ask to take photos of the people they want on there cover. No matter who that person is. Because a picture can say a lot of good or bad things sometime even hurtful things.

I don’t agree that they took 40 pounds off Michelle Obama or did extensive work on her face. I think these are all beautiful women. But do you think Tyra may have been photoshopped a little? How could that neck hold anything up? She looks ridiculous!!! I am an animal lover, but am not a PETA lover. I think they go WAY over the top.

I don’t know what the fuss is the photo of Michelle doesn’t even look like her, they’ve taken about 40lbs off her as well as fixing up her face extensively, it’s more of a caricature.

There is no way she is trying to look like Michelle Obama she is way prettier than Michelle is.

Along with the pearls from animals, I love those silk dresses (made from animals)! PETA hates it when the silkworms scream!

In honor of these spineless ladies, and to celebrate the fact that I’m an omnivore, like most of the planet, I’ll be wearing my sheepskin boots (they’re fur) all day today and having cottage cheese for lunch!
