Brittany Murphy Had 'Large Amounts' of Medications

Brittany Murphy had a shocking amount of prescription pills on her nightstand the day she died, according to a new report.

According to notes written by Investigator Blacklock from the L.A. Coroner's office and obtained by TMZ, Brittany had a "large amount" of prescription bottles on her nightstand, found by paramedics when they moved Murphy from the bathroom to her bedroom.

Check out photos of Murphy over the years

"A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent's name," the notes read. "Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names."

The medications found include: Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and vitamins.

The notes say, "No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered."

See what stars are saying about Brittany's untimely passing

Brittany's mother Sharon "discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive" in the bathroom on Sunday morning. She yelled to Brittany's husband Simon Monjack for help. The documents state that Sharon dialed 911 while Simon "attempted to revive the decedent by placing her in the shower and running the water."

Brittany, who was "without signs of life" when the paramedics arrived, had been "complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain" for approximately a week before her death. Monjack told the investigator that he wasn't alarmed by Brittany's complaints because the actress "often suffered from severe menstrual pains."

WHAT A DEVASTATING LOSS TO FAMILY,FRIENDS,AND FANS ALIKE!!!!
GOD SEEMS TO PICK THE SWEETEST ROSES FIRST!!!!
BRITTNEY WILL BE MISSED!!!!!!!!!!
A million times we’ll miss you,
a million times we’ll cry.
If loving could have saved you,
you never would have died.
In life we love you dearly,
In death we love you too.
In our hearts there is an empty place,
no one could fill but you.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you never went alone.
for part of us went with you,
when God took you home.
His garden must be pretty,
he only wants the best.
He put his loving arms around you
and said: “My child, come home to rest”.

never mind the prescription drugs, what about the diabetes. losing weight is a sign of poor diabetes control and can eventually cause heart attack

It seems everyone mocked her for having such a bubbly personality, she always smiled and made people smile! I believe that her husband had something to do with her death due to his neglect of her pain and breathing problems! Pain is a symptom of danger especially for such a long time! Rest in peace and know that we all loved you!

If she was having shortness of breath this was a signal to get her to a doctor ASAP, and not wait. I find it unbelievable that her husband especially was not bothered by her symptoms and no one bothered to get help for her. This is truly tragic and should not have happened. Even if she had abdominal pains related to her menses, it still does not mean that these pains were not a symptom of something much worse.

I agree with just about everyone here, I I have all the same meds she had except Topamax plus some others in my medicine cabinet and that doesn’t make me an addict and I don’t take them all everyday. Although her death is not being treated as bad as some other stars have been, there is still to much speculation. She was a beautiful woman with a family who loves her and has to deal with her death and because of this cannot focus on the contagious joy she had. May you RIP, God has blessed this world greatly for a time with you, just wish it wasn’t so short….

I was shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ms. Murphy. She was a very gifted actress, and seemed to be a very wonderful person. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family & friends. She had a sparkle in her eyes, and inner beauty that shined from within. May God Bless her and her family in this time of great sorrow.

I don’t agree with the media trying to gain a dollar from these celeb deaths. So what if this woman had these prescription medications on her nightstand? I have several on my desk. Does that mean that I take each and every one of them on a daily basis? Heck no! I also take Topamax. And Topamax explains Brittany’s weight loss.If these morons would do some research they would learn that the drug causes weight loss.I started the medication in September 09,and have lost 20 pounds since. For some its not a good reaction, for some it is.You have to know how to manage your weight with it.

With all medications you have to ask your doctor what reactions it will have with the other medications you’re taking.I also take blood pressure medicine.I’m very careful with other drugs and alcohol.I don’t do illegal drugs and only drink alcohol on occasion. You can’t mix all sorts of drugs, especially ones that slow your heart rate. I have a friend that is addicted to pain meds and muscle relaxers but she says shes not..I have a feeling we’ll be burying her soon.

RIP Brittany…and to the media, including Extra, back off and let this family mourn in peace.

The medical profession,Dr.’s, Pharmacist have to educated patient’s about the chemical combinations of all of these medications. Family and friends have to be reponsible about medications. The medicines prescribed for one person may have adverse affects on another person, especially when mixed w other medications(drugs and/or alcohol)someone else maybe taking. When are the celebrities going to learn? Marilyn Monroe,Elvis Presley,River Phoenix,Heath Ledger,Anna Nicole, Michael Jackson, etc…and many everyday people. Someone has to explain the consequences of over medication. Someone has to step up to the plate to prevent these unnessesary and untimely deaths!!!!!

I find it so sad that the media has to speculate about her death. Stressing the amount of prescription drugs puts ideas out to the public without comfirmation. I take a lot of meds, if I die does that mean it’s suspicious? Media needs to morn the death of a person. Not bring out any true or fictional things from her past. Talk about what she contributed to film.
