Mya: The 'DWTS' Trophy 'Is Mine'

mya dancing

Mya is in it to win it on "Dancing with the Stars."

"I haven't worked this hard for this long not to win this thing," she said on Monday's final. "That trophy is mine."

The Grammy-winner and partner Dmitry Chaplin scored 87 out of 90 points for their three dances. Their paso doble megamix challenge -- danced alongside competitors Kelly Osbourne and Donny Osmond -- both earned perfect scores, while judges were underwhelmed by her "Hairspray"-themed freestyle dance.

"I was expecting something a little bit more spectacular," judge Bruno Tonioli said.

Osmond came in second place, earning 85 out of 90 points with partner Kym Johnson. Judge Len Goodman called their Broaddway-inspired freestyle routine "an absolute showstopper."

Osmond is determined to take the trophy as well.

"I want to win this mirror ball so badly," he said Monday. "Because if you had a sister named Marie and she was going to rub it in your face your whole life, you'd want to win, too."

Look back on everyone who competed on season 9

Osbourne and partner Louis van Amstel came in third with 76 points out of 90.

"One thing is for sure," judge Tonioli said. "You never looked more beautiful than tonight."

Despite her low score, Obsourne said she was pleased with her performance on the show.

"I didn't think that I really could do it, but this was my opportunity to show people that I have grown up," she said. "Every single dance we've done so far in this competition has been such a learning process and an adventure for me. I never thought we were going to get this far, but I'm so glad we did."

The winner is revealed Tuesday on ABC. Whitney Houston is also slated to perform.

I think this DWI show is a joke. They are not looking for the best dancer but for the most begging and well known person. I have been around since Donnie’s brothers sang for their supper; I have never cared for their music. He certainly can’t dance. I and my friends will never look at this show again. Mya was the best dancer and should have won. I can see from the pass winners that you don’t have to be able to dance to win; just be well known or white.

Mya is the winner in my book she was the best all along. Donny should not have won. This has turned me against looking at this show.

kelly is the only of the 3 who was truly in this competition as an amateur and the only finalist who deserved to win for becoming a competent ball room dancer. mya was in ‘Chicago’ and Donny had a very long musical and performing career. but Mya should never been in the competition, maybe as a pro dancer but not as a contender.

Tonight’s show showed just how unfair and fixed “dwts” really is, there is no way Donny beat Mya or Kelly. He will have to live with the fact that he didn’t win on his talent or his ability to dance, but he won because the producers wanted a white male to win, and he was the best of the worst, and the last man standing. The whole set up was transparent from the beginning,it was Lynn who first started giving Mya low points and unjust criticism, then it was Carrie Anns turn to try and belittle Mya, but she danced so well that they had to give up the unfair criticism and start to give her the props that she deserved. I for one am finished with the show, and some changes should be made, for one the viewers votes should be handled by an accounting firm just like the votes on the academy awards show, that way there would be no question as to who got the most votes, second the judges should not try to manipulate the outcome by making false accusations, or by giving faint praise where its not due. But until some changes are made I urge all viewers who are not satisfied with the status qua to make their opinions known.

This show is a total joke. When Donny got his “10” tonight the handwriting was on the wall. What a complete ripoff for Mya.

This show is a total joke. Donnie was picked to win it all at the very beginning and it didn’t matter what Mya did. She deseverd to win and because she didn’t shows that the show is fake from the beginning. I’m having a problem with the way the show having a problem with BLACK WOMEN entertainers making it to the finals and not winning when it is clearly visable that they should have won (Mel B, Toni Braxton as an example). Donnie was in the bottom for most of the show while Mya was in the top of the leader board for the entire show. The winners are picked by the Judges and producers at the very beginning and I will never watch this show again (I’m sure you all don’t care).

Based on their Dancing Ability, Mya wins hands up. They really should be voted on based on their dancing and not their popularity, but I think its hard for most people in general to not be able to do that.

I hope Donny wins!!!!!! If for no other reason to take some of Mya’s cockyness out. She has been consistent but the judges have been harder on Donny because he is already a performer, has a show in Vegas with Marie. GO DONNY GO!!!!!!

MYA! is the best since day one.
She is being chosen as a dancer, not as
a celebrity,as others. Great work!

There will be an upset and they will give it to Donny….although Mya is the best. I voted for Mya, but if she doesn’t win I’d like to see the Osbourn girl win (for most improved!)

Hello Dance Lovers,
As a past Instructer, performer and judge
Mya! is the one to take the prize.
I believe people are not voting on their
preformance but on their popularaty.
They should relize everyone puts in a
vast amount of time and energy to be the
best with style, timing and performance.
Everyone does an excellent job,but only
one does it the best. MYA

Thank you all,
JAY
