'Gossip Girl' Slammed for Threesome

The Parents Television Council is taking aim at Hollywood's favorite Upper East Siders.

The Council has asked the CW Network to pull an upcoming episode of "Gossip Girl," which will feature a steamy threesome with the show's main characters.

"To include a storyline like this on a program that is expressly targeted to impressionable teenagers is reckless and irresponsible," PTC President Tim Winter says in a statement. "We are asking each CW Network affiliate to use their common sense and preempt this episode."

Ads teasing the "Gossip Girl" threesome began airing this week on the CW.

"CW has been defending graphic content on 'Gossip Girl' by asserting that they don't target teenagers," Winter continues. "Such a claim doesn't even pass the 'laugh test.' The network's own promotions talk about the program as a 'parent's worst nightmare.' How many 30-year olds care what their parents think? Zero. Only a teenager would be responsive to a parental 'forbidden fruit' marketing ploy like that, and CW knows it."

Winter warns that the "PTC will monitor this episode very closely" and the group "will not hesitate to contact local and national advertisers; and if this program violates broadcast decency law, rest assured that our members will contact the Federal Communications Commission."

This isn't the first time the PTC has been up in arms over the show. In 2008, they took issue with an ad campaign that featured a shirtless Chace Crawford in bed with an older woman, and Ed Westwick feeding a cherry suggestively to Leighton Meester.

Is it really? I never heard of that. Are you looking for wealthy men? I know a hot and interesting place named Billionairepal.com where I have met my
boyfriend. You may take a look.

I think it speaks volumes that many Hollywood actors 1. Won’t raise their own familes in the area and 2. Won’t let their kids watch TV.

I think this program imparts one of the most fundamental values of American society - that more is better. Nothing exemplifies this better than the threesome. Remember the scene in Office Space, when one of the characters says that if he had a million dollars he’d do “two chicks at the same time”? That’s what I’m talking about here.

I don’t want my children to grow up having only one sexual partner at a time, like I did. I want them to learn that more is better, and that they can and should have threesomes, or even foursomes if they can pull it off.

Uh- huh. well you just wait until you have kids. It’s not so easy. And all you as a parent are trying to do is keep them alive, first of all, and then get them to where they can be healthy and find true happiness.

Just show the episode, it can’t be worse than anything tht has already been on the show before.

I think this type of censorship is un-American. So what if they have a threesome on there? People have threesomes all the time. Even teenagers have threesomes. This is not news to them. It isn’t the 1920s anymore, people. If your kid is thirteen or older, there’s an even chance they’ve gone at it with more than one person at a time. And hats off to them for being independent, free thinkers.

People like Laura from Cincinatti probably had a gang-bang every weekend back in their wild days, but now are turning all hypocrite on us and acting all holier than thou.

Knowing Gossip Girl, and I do, it won’t be a big deal. It’ll probably show them all in a room, then cut, then awkward morning. If parents have such a problem then be a parent and don’t let your children watch. I also don’t know anyone under the age of 17 that watches GG. But still if you don’t want your children watching it, actually be a parent and change the channel.

I agree that the programming is horrible and irresponsible. I think the show may have been trying to release close in concert with Britney Spears’ new song about threesomes, which I also think is deplorable. I am a parent -my 10 yr old hears this crap, and I am left trying to educate about healthy sexual relationships, which is definitely not teens engaging in threesomes. It’s very hard as a parent, when many cultural messages are telling him something different.
