Eat More Food, Less Calories This Thanksgiving

"Extra" Lifechanger and author Dr. Howard Shapiro says the traditional Thanksgiving dinner can be around 2,700 calories, but he says you can enjoy more food for half the calories with his menu.

Low-Cal Thanksgiving Meal Menu

Appetizers
1 cup curried vegetable lentil soup (180 calories)
8 2 oz. shrimp (60 calories)
8 large olives (80 calories)
6 marinated mushrooms (30 calories)
4 marinated artichoke hearts (30 calories)

Dinner
3 oz. turkey, 2 Tbsp. gravy, 1 cup low calorie stuffing with veggie sausage, 1 Tbsp. cranberry sauce (460 calories)
¾ cup sweet potato casserole (270 calories)
1 cup green beans (40 calories)
1 cup acorn squash (120 calories)

Dessert
Pumpkin pie pudding (70 calories)

Total calories: 1340

Opt for more sensible items, like white meat turkey, veggies, salads, and sugar free desserts. look for low carb and low fat items.
