Adam Lambert Responds to Critics

Adam Lambert has a message for his critics.

"You either like it or you don't like it," the "American Idol" runner-up told "Extra" after his toned-down gig at "The Early Show" Wednesday morning. Lambert was criticized earlier this week for his AMA performance, in which he simulated oral sex and made out with a male band member.

"If you're not into it, don't listen to the music... change your channel," Lambert continued.

Lambert -- who was dropped from "Good Morning America" Wednesday morning after the network received more than 1,500 complaints -- thinks the drama "will probably blow over."

"I don't think it's really that big of a deal," Lambert added. "I think people will kind of look back at it and be like, 'Oh my gosh, why did we make such a big deal about it?'"

On the "Early Show" Wednesday, he admitted he got "carried away" at the awards show.

"But I don't see anything wrong with it," he added, pointing out that he was unfairly judged because he's gay and a man.

"It's a double whammy," he said.

Adam,
Your right it should blow over, If not who cares We Still Love You and those who don’t can change the channel or grow up!

Honestly, it’s not his sexuality that bothers me. What sickens me is what he did on stage. Whether it was a gay guy or straight guy up there, doing what he did is downright disgusting and not something for national television. I respected him for his music and class. He just lost all respect from me.

It is such a shame, that you cannot boost your career based on your talent rather than exploitation of sexual acts on naional tv. Too bad you have to stoop to such a low level! You remind me of Madonna. She too, would do anything to get people talking. You are a scum bag. It is so shocking to see that on tv. what are you trying to prove?

I voted for Adam on American Idol. I have nothing against the type music he chooses to sing. But like a lot of other entertainers he forgot that it’s not only the adult fan base that is following him but also the younger fan base. I have since banned my daughter from listening or watching Adam Lambert anymore. And I pray other parents do the same since he seems to thinking what he did was justified.

You got exactly what you wanted, notarity and a lot of press. Congrats. But, in doing so you have lost some of the fan base that voted you in on American Idol and who paid to see you on the tour. You really did play us, didn’t you? I read a story where you said on AI you played nice and responsible. That guy was not really you. You did play us very well Adam, congrats again. In your no class performance on the AMAs, you have lost many followers. But you are after a different fan base now and you will probably succeed. I won’t be purchasing your CD. By the way, it was certainly not the kiss that bothered me—it was the simulation of a bj with your gyrations and that look on your face with the finger to the camera. Never saw you sing or even look that bad before. Was totally shocked. I was the only one at my office that was a fan and now I know they were right. You blew a golden opportunity, for what the fun of shocking. How very sad. You just may be your own worst enemy.

Adam, you were selected by the AMA producers to announce the competitors for each AMA award and you did that with class with Snoop Dog and Paula Abdul. Then when given the honor of being the last performer that night, you change your performance at the last moment just to shock in a classless manner. This shows you are not the person we thought you were. You disrespected the producers and your fans. I doubt you will be invited back next year. I am no longer a fan and will not be buying your CD.The clock on your fame is ticking and coming to an end real soon, if you don’t get it together.

Well, I was a big fan of Adam’s and went to the AI tour show just to see and hear him sing. But, after the AMAs I feel he is less about singing and more about just shocking people. His performance was so OTT. For him to pull a change in the performance at the last moment that also included not including the band member and dancer in on the change, shows a lack of respect. Oh yes, his look at the end with the giving the bird to the audience and camera was really awful. Never saw him look or sound as bad as he did in that performance. He said in one interview during the tour that he used a lot of pot and cocaine in 2006 and I am just hoping he is not doing that again. That would be so sad with all the promise he showed during AI. Hope family and friends are staying close to him.

Hey I’m with Adam, if you don’t like don’t watch it. He is just giving a warning of whats to come in the future from other actors, actresses, & entertainers. Hollywood is wild, out of control, & he is just showing some of the stuff that goes on. Like it or not is here, watch & see.

For those of you who comlained and think you are hurting his career, you actually were played like a puppet and now he is a big deal because you made him a big deal. Your complaints have boosed him further into the spotlight and you have more than quadrupled his CD sales. Instead of people talking about him and the awards show for a day or two, they will be talking about him on all the news and Hollywood gossip shows for months. You saved him millions of dollars in marketing his music and he will be making hundreds of millions more than he would have if everyone had just kept their big mouths shut. Madonna, Ozzy, Marylin Manson, Howard Stern and many others have been using this same marketing strategy for ages now. Stupidity of the whiners and complainers is the most cost effective free marketing and publicity you can get.
And Adam Lambert, from the one performance I have heard is the most talented thing to have ever come from that American Idiot show. I don’t know why he would have wasted his time on that stupid program with all thosekaraoke hacks.

SHAME ON YOU ADAM. Your behavior makes the gay community look bad, who are, on the whole decent people. Frankly, I found you disgusting and vulgar, which is NOT okay. Play out your fanticies at home, not in front of millions of people.

Adam, Adam. I must say that I agree with you. One how many other acts came before you and each one was super charged and sexual and no one said anything or complained or sent their kids to bed. So here it is…folks don’t care that their kids watch women in S&M body suits with crotch straps. As long as a woman is wearing it they are fine with S&M behavior. They don’t mind the vulgarity of watching a woman grabbing her crotch or that of a man or forcing a man’s head down bending him over for their sexual delight. This aggressive behavior is okay because it is done by a woman. They do not mind rappers who grab themselves because when they rap about raping women it is masculine. What these people are complaining about is the fact that you are a gay man and did something sexual and they weren’t prepared for that so you scared them. Instead of them taking a step back they are going to gay bash on you and try to make you into an example. While I think you did nothing wrong this is the injustice I see going on. It is a double standard.

Adam’s childish ways are an insult to the vast majority of talented singers and entertainers all over the world. To use inappropriate sexual behavior on a program like that shows astounding immaturity on Adam’s part. No one cares if he is gay as we’ve seen so many excellent gay entertainers for many years now. Keep your private life to yourself son because in this business you will only hurt your fan base by acting so childish.

I am so tired of people doing stupid crap and then blaming our response on sexual orientation, gender, race, height, weight….whatever. Man up and accept the fact that you did something stupid and disrespectful. Should you be able to do the same things as two women….sure. Fact is I am tired of seeing EVERYTHING sexualized. I could care less about your sexual orientation. Plays no factor in my opinion of you. As for you being male playing another part of your “Double Whammy”….give me a break. Get over yourself. You are no better then the rest of us. I am all for standing up and making a point but what disgusts me is that you had an opportunity to really say something. To do it respectfully. All the people in the world that have a problem with homosexuality…you think grinding on stage changed that. I haven’t talked to a gay person yet that felt good about your performance. All you did was make it look like gay guys are sexualized freaks. That really helps the cause. What a stupid stupid thing to do. I was a huge fan of yours and am completely disgusted. You had a chance, a huge chance, something that a lot of us would give our right arm for and you spit on it. I hope your proud of yourself. If you don’t care about our opinions……well that’s great since WE are the reason that YOU are where you are.

First I have to say I really wanted to see Adams performance at the AMA and so were my children because we voted for him on American Idol and cheered for him the whole time.We tivo it so we could watch it the next day.I have gay friends and that does not bother me at all, what does bother me is Adam saying it’s because he is gay and that he is not Americas babysitters and responsible parents should have not had thier children watching at 11:00.Well I live in central time zone and tivo it.Adams perfomace was disturbing on every level.Adam is not big enough to act like he’s having a temper tantrum and the fans that put him there will also stop supporting him like me and my children.I can not trust his music or his action with my family.I am still explaining why Adam was kissing a guy in his band!I was watching abc not HBO!Adam also says if you don’t like it turn the channel.I will now,but Adam is still so knew I had no idea he would be so trashy…

It has nothing to do with Adam being gay or a man…His performance was a disgraceful. Someone’s young child may have been looking at the awards. Stop pulling the gay card. Adam did what he wanted to do for attention

To Michele Lovetro and her ridiculous comment about being gay as a choice, why don’t you take the time to educate yourself on it rather than post on things you obviously know nothing about. Being homosexual is not a behavior. Behaviors are choices, not sexual orientation. Did YOU choose to be STRAIGHT?? I’d like to know when that was if you did. You can choose to engage in homosexual/gay behavior, but that does not make you homosexual or gay. Could you CHOOSE to just suddenly have sexual and intimate feelings for a woman? No, you could not. So why would you think it’s any different for gay people?

ADAM MAY BE UPFRONT WITH HIS SEXUALITY BUT HE IS STILL CONFUSED. THE SHOW’S PRODUCERS WERE JUST USING HIM TO GET RATINGS AND HE FELL FOR IT AT THE COST OF HIS CAREER. TRY BEING YOURSELF MAYBE YOU’LL GET A SECOND CHANCE.

Don’t think it was a wise move .
” There is a time and place for everything”the amv was not the place for that stunt. As a Gay supporter Adam you should have saved that for a DVD.
Allways you are Talented ! YOu know that! hang in there and remember think before you act !
