Shut the blinds, carve the pumpkins and grab the popcorn -- "Extra" has compiled a list of the best horror, thriller and campy flicks to celebrate Halloween!

The Amityville Horror

1979 thriller about the paranormal experiences of the Lutz family. The film is said to be based on true events.

Arachnophobia

This 1990 campy-horror flick about deadly spiders that infest a small California town.

Beetlejuice

This 1988 comedy-horror film has become a cult classic about an unruly poltergeist. The Tim Burton flick stars Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin.

Carrie

This 1976 horror film, based on the novel by Stephen King, tells the story of outcast Carrie, who discovers her telekinetic powers after her peers torture her.

Dawn of the Dead

This 1978 cult zombie film is about an apocalyptic zombie society that feeds on human flesh.

Dracula

This 1931 film is based on Bram Stoker’s story of Count Dracula.

The Exorcist

1973 horror film about the demonic possession of a young girl, played by Linda Blair.

Frankenstein

This 1994 film, a remake of the 1931 film, shares the story of Frankenstein, a monster made by an obsessed scientist using human corpses.

Friday The 13th

This 1980 horror film introduces the psycho killer Jason, who stalks and kills camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake.

Halloween

This 1978 flick follows Michael Myers, an institutionalized killer who escapes and goes on a murdering spree on Halloween.

Hocus Pocus

This 1993 comedy centers around the story of three witch sisters who are summoned after 300 years of death on the quest for immortal life.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

This animated television special tells the story about Charlie Brown and his friends celebrating Halloween.

The Nightmare on Elm Street

This 1984 horror film tells the story of several teenagers being terrorized in their nightmares by the ghost of a serial child murderer named Freddy Krueger.

Pet Sematary

The 1989 film, based on Stephen King’s novel, surrounds around a haunted burial ground that can bring the dead back to life.

Prom Night

This 1980 film, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, is about a serial killer stalking teenagers who caused the accidental death of a child on prom night.

Psycho

This 1960 film is a horror classic, and tells Alfred Hitchcock’s story of a young woman who stole money from her employer and her encounter with Norman Bates.

Rosemary's Baby

The 1968 film centers around Rosemary Woodhouse, a woman who suspects she’s carrying the son of Satan.

Saw

This 2004 horror film tells the story of the serial killer Jigsaw and his victims who are forced to make difficult — and deadly — choices.

The Shining

This 1980 horror film, based on the book by Stanley Kubrick, tells the story of tormented writer Jack Torrance who has “shining” abilities.

Wow. Not that anyone ever expects good journalism from Extra, but it’s still amazing to see them screw up something as simple as a list of movies.

If you actually watched the Friday The 13th movie series, you know that the original did not “introduce” Jason, it was his mother.

The picture for Dracula is the 1992 Bram Stoker’s Dracula, not the 1931.

This is the worst listing of movies I have ever seen. Not for the fact that I may personally disagree with some selections but many of the ONE sentence blurbs about the movies are inaccurate. There are 2 mistakes in the 1 sentence about The Shining. Can anyone else see this?? Others are wrong too, but I’m not looking through all of them again.
