Richard Heene: The Media is the Hoax

Balloon Boy dad Richard Heene, has taken to his website to send a message to the public; it's the media, not his runaway balloon, that is duping you.

The eccentric father of three, who posted the message on his Psyience Detectives website, maintains his innocence as authorities accuse Heene of pretending his son was in a runaway balloon as a publicity stunt.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Department announced yesterday that it believes the story of Balloon Boy to have been a premeditated hoax to gain notoriety for the Heene family.

What do you think? Should the Heenes lose their children?

the kids should have been gone as soon as the video of the parents driving into a storm with the kids in the back seat was released. anyone who thinks otherwise is brainwashed. any normal parent would not drive into a tornado with their 3 kids in the backseat taking the risk of the whole vehicle gettin demolished. are you stupid? i cant beleive this ludacris!!!!

I am shocked that anyone would consider taking their children over such a stunt. As a social worker, I see REAL situations where children are in serious danger and need removed. These parents made a foolish mistake. Slap them with restitution and some community service. They wanted the world to know who they were- and now with all this media attention, we do. Their 15 minutes of fame is over. Time to move on- family, INTACT.

Ever heard of our Constitution or our Bill of Rights.

This family doesn’t need to be ripped apart over this but there are people out there who think so. Obviously they don’t know the trauma those children will go through if they are put in foster care.

I just don’t understand why people are so quick to destroy a family no matter what. Those children were not abused even if it was all a hoax. Stupidity is not child abuse. Those kids looked very happy to me.

No child was hurt in this act. Children do this every day on TV and they get paid for doing it.

I think so many American people have been brain washed and conditioned into believing that children are better off in foster care. To many children today are in foster care and they want nothing more then to go home to their own family. They have been more abused, neglected and totally traumatized by being torn from their home with parents who love them and placed with strangers then they have ever experienced at the hands of their own parents. There are no perfect families so if they are allowed to steal children from this family who are not abused then what makes those who want this to happen think that they won’t be next?

Stupidity, poverty, homelessness, dirty dishes, having Oodles of Noodles on Thanksgiving, a child born with a birth defect, witnessing a parent being assaulted by a spouse, toys out of a toy box, a child slips out a closed door and not seen by a busy parent, this list can go on and on but they are not reasons to place children into foster care. These are the thousands of children who are being stolen from their homes everyday and cry every night for mom and dad. These are children who want to be heard but are silenced by the courts and CPS.

Doing physical harm and placing a child in harms way is child abuse. What that father might have done to hoax the people did not harm his children. If convicted of committing a crime by calling the police and starting a search frenzy well then make him pay back the cost it incurred by his insensitive and stupid act. He might have even given those rescuers some good training but to take their children because of it. That is just crazy and sounds more like communism to me. He didn’t ask for the media to do what they do. They did it for the ratings. Maybe someone should look into their family due to their gullibility.

Not only should custody be taken from the Heenes, they shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near them until the children are at least eighteen years old! They have put the children’s lives in danger many times, used them to gain a bit of tacky fame on the wife swapping show, what does child welfare of Colorado need as proof to take the children away? Maybe a dead kid will be what it takes to get them moving. Mr. Heenes must be on drugs to act the way he does and the mother looks like she’s been abused for quite a while. If those children could be put in good, loving adoptive homes where they would be safe, one problem would be solved. I think both parents should be made to pay back all the money wasted on the hoax by cleaning up trash from Colorado highways. Never should they get the children back.

I vote they should not lose their children on this alone. Can these folks be any worse than Michael Jackson or Brit. Spears as parents? Maybe an investigation into whether there is any abuse is wise, but they just seem a little cooky. I work at an elementary school and these kids look happy for the most part. Give these folks the benefit of the doubt. Remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the wierd inventor dad? He was quite loving, even if the Victorian world disapproved.

I cannot believe that in this day and age a person who makes a mistake will find themselves faced wtih loosing their children! Perhaps he made a bad decision? Not arguing that! But, I ask, have all of you been “mistake-free” throughout your parenting years??? I doubt it! Look in the mirror before you judge someone - can you honestly say you are a perfect parent????????????? ***sigh*** I for one, know I am not! However, I strive to be the best each and everyday - perhaps he does need help to be a better parent, without a doubt! Leave his kids there - give him help, and stop judging people!

The father who is orchestrating this whole circus and wasting tax payers money (note the country is not out of the recession just yet) is clearly having a mid-life crisis and needs some attention. Before I found out all the facts about this story my guess was that he was a wanna-be actor, and I was right! It’s a sad commentary on the values of our society that is bombarded with fluff tv that is mostly comprised of reality shows. How about a reality show about humanitarian issues where viewers can tune into see how they can help society? The father is a loser that needs a reality check and not a reality show, perhaps a little jail time will be the solution.

The kids should be taken away from them and be put with either relatives who don’t ever try to get on reality tv shows nor carve the spot light like they do or otherwise be put in foster care.Cause these parents need some mental help and the kids should be with others while they get it.
