Kate Gosselin: 'I Can't Pay My Bills'

Reality mom Kate Gosselin has gone from TV star to pauper -- and Kate claims her estranged husband Jon is to blame.

Mrs. Gosselin said on the "Today Show" this morning that Jon virtually emptied their joint bank account -- and now Kate can't pay her bills. "He took $230,000 of the $231,000 we had," Kate revealed. "I have a stack of bills. The last thing I wanted was to do this show and end up not being able to pay our bills."

She later added of her estranged husband, "He has gone way far off the trail...Obviously, I am very upset. I can't sleep at night. I can't pay my bills. I think he's receiving bad advice. I think he's making bad decisions."

Marty Singer, Kate's lawyer, has announced that he intends to take Jon to court and force him to return the money. In response, Jon's legal team said that the reality dad has taken the money he was "entitled to," and will take additional "significant" funds he feels he deserves. "It's wonderful to say he'll be awarded significant funds. However, there are not significant funds to be awarded," Kate admitted.

Kate, who became visibly upset when talking about finances, added that she hopes Jon allows filming for "Kate Plus Eight" to continue. Jon temporarily halted production last week, claiming he wants his brood off reality TV. "It has ended our income and our paychecks and our opportunities," Kate said of Jon's decision. "I wish Jon would think more about it."

News that the production was halted did not sit well with the Gosselin brood. "There was wailing and sobbing," Kate said, adding that the kids "love our crew."

The mother of eight's finances may be up in the air, but Kate announced that her children have money that will help secure their financial futures. "Financially, the kids are protected. They have the fund that I set up for them," Kate said. "That was my long-term goal. It is secure and substantial... and it is safe. I had the presence of mind to start that on my own. That's what I want for them, for their future to be secure."

Kate also showed off a new wedding ring on the show -- the "Kate Plus Eight" star had the stone remounted with eight little diamonds representing her children.

I really think this is a very sad & dysfunctional situation. Jon & Kate chose to be the parents of eight children. They now continue to have the reponsibility to be parents whether together or apart. The children should be the first priority. Jon & Kate certainly were not concerned with the finances when the money was coming in…Nanny, you are right that Kate cannot support eight children on a Nurse’s salary,neither could I & that is why I only chose to have one. Take reponsibility for your actions & your lives. It is not the reponsibility of your children to provide a lavish lifestyle for you two jerks!!!! Hope their is money available for counseling.

i think Jon just wanted to marry kate because of money . I think he was being a liar first of all like all those drama where they just take money and leave!.
I felt sorry for kate to marry a dumb husband who cheats on her and leave wit the money!

A bank representative details nine withdraws made by Jon Gosselin that total $230,000 since August. The papers have been release that Jon did indeed wipe the account clean! The Gosselins will NOT be paid while on hiatus because of Jon Gosselin’s demands. Guess what people. When they go to court tomorrow Jon has allot to answer for. Jon showed on the TV tonight only ONE of the withdrawals. He failed to mention all the other ones. So now what do you think of Jon. This is a guy that claims he is now more famous than Paris Hilton. No he brags about it. This is exactly why Jon wants the media attention because in court he won’t get any. I’m sick of him saying he has had all this therapy. It didn’t help. He is more of a child than before. I’m sick to death of him blaming Kate for his weakness. We are all responsible for ourselves and Jon needs to own it that he is weak and pathetic and very narcisstic.
Story was reported by the Philadelphia paper and proof will be in court tomorrow.

Kate your fantastic…..I watched your
shows and my favorite is the farm show. The children were so cute with the anumals. Jon is a worthless individual….don’t take him back. Right now all he wants is money to spend on himself and girls. He doesn’t want you and the responsibility of 8 children. Once a cheater….always a cheater. You will never be able to trust him again. What a low life to take all the money out of the account…he can’t even be fair. That alone should show you how much he thinks of you and the children….last laugh on you Kate…..he’s worthless. Get you show going again…it is great.

The children need a real down to earth life that consists of real things, NOT
reality TV. Jon was right to put a stop to the craziness of cameras in their life. I would like to see Jon and Kate reconcile, but if Kate can’
t let Jon be the man of the house, I don’t see this happening. If I remember correctly, Jon had a REAL job which Kate insisted he quit, so that she could pursue her writing career. The real people being hurt here, are those beautiful children. God Bless them.

Oh please, get yourself a real job. Quit exploiting your children. Im so sick of hearing about jon and kate plus eight. More people in the world have more and worse problems than her.If she hadnt of been a bitty and exploited her children she may have found a happier life and maybe would still have a husband. According to Kate’s interview with Meredith Viera on the Today Show, the only way either of them can take monies from that account is with each other’s permission. So how did it happen? Where is the arbitator? I happened to see Extra’s coverage of Jon with all the photographers. I wouldn’t cross the street to see him even if someone offered me a thousand dollars. I concur with someone earlier - he needs to get a real job and stop taking the monies from his kids.

I think jon is sick in the head, all of a sudden he thinks the kids shouldn’t be on tv. Why’s that jon is it because your name was taken off, you sure had no problem in the past taken everything that was handed to you, you are sick, sick, sick to do what your doing to your kids, you can careless about them, it’s all about jon, if you love them the way you say you do, why did you take all the money, why did you move so far away from them. You really need to get help. GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think about your children, please sit down with a counselor to work out your problems. At this time the show needs to be removed from Television. The children need a normal life away from the cameras. Kate, if you revisit some of the previous shows you degraded your husband on many counts. Jon, you fail to stand up to your wife or you didn’t know how to handle her demands. As a result, both parties are hurt and lashing out at each other. Stop slandering each other on television and try to resolve the issue. If the matter cannot be solved why not come to some sort of arrangement. Perhaps both of you will have to agree to disagree on certain terms and leave it at that.

I don’t think most of you realize how expensive it is to raise 8 kids. There is no way a single mom can afford to feed, cloth, and educate 8 kids on a nurses salary. I know she has them set up for there future education but most of that can’t be touched till they are older. I really don’t believe Jon will be much help because he has a pretty expensive life stile

I think Jon Gosselin is a DISGUSTING human being! To take away money that is for necessities for the children is just mind blowing to me! All due to the fact TLC is tired of his antics & doesn’t want him to be a big part of the show anymore. He thinks he is solely getting back @ Kate by taking the money he is an IDIOT because the children will hurt the most from his decision. Kate is the worst Mother ever because she expects US to believe that she is pulling the wool over our eyes. She is greedy and selfish and self centered. She has maids,assistants, gardeners and 3 cooks!! and she has the GAUL to sit there and say POOR me.. the only one crying was her when taping stopped.Those children NEED to be CHILDREN not gold cups to be used by TRAILER PARK RAISED KATE!!!!!
