Letterman Still Laughing on 'Late Night'

David Letterman is still the butt of his own jokes on the "Late Show" -- and the ratings are up!

At the beginning of his monologue on Tuesday, Letterman hinted at the extortion and affair scandal, but didn't directly mention it. "There is a trend in Broadway theater, the leading characters have understudies, so I was thinking I should get an understudy and I might need an understudy because I might not be here for a wide variety of reasons," he said.

When Dave's guest actress Eliza Dushku walked on stage, he didn't greet the "Dollhouse" star with the usual kiss on the cheek. Instead, the two shook hands.

The Letterman scandal has boosted the late night show's ratings. Dave's apology to his wife and staff members on Monday night's show attracted 5.7 million viewers and close to 5.8 million tuned in last Thursday when he announced he had engaged in sexual affairs with female employees.

It’s all for the money and two for the show. So the kids get the worst of the deal in the whole thing because parents need to grow up as well.

I dont think he was that honest as people say.i saw some say he was more honest as some politicians but in the end he only told it because someone made him tell it by asking for money.Dont even know why he married after so long when he knew he is not going to be faithful. And the worst thing is that those women knew he has a wife. Are they this desperate??

Why doesn’t the media take a step back and let David and his wife work through this themselves. I for one couldn’t care less what affairs David Letterman has had. They should also stay out of the lives of the Gosselins. Just stop and think about the nine children that are innocently involved and what they are/will be going through. Everyone does not want to continue INTERFERING in the lives of the Lettermans or Gosselins. Leave them alone.
