Found out many years ago it was James Taylor.

My father said that he saw an interview done with her not long after the song came out and she admitted that the song was about Mick Jagger. It was also pretty obvious since they had just been dating and he then left her high and dry.

Love is a very rocky road and Carly and I both know it is James Taylor.

She has never divulged whom the song is about so I’m not sure what R. Match is talking about. She also once aluded to the fact it could be about Pierre Trudeau. We may never know, but speculation is always fun!

Carly Simon already admitted a couple of years ago in Rolling Stone magazine that it was about Mick Jagger.

Why bring it up again now?

From what I have seen of these three men over the years, and having heard them all interviewed, it HAS to be Warren Beatty. Cat Stevens is a sweetheart, Mick Jagger is a sweetheart behind his ‘act’, but Beatty is just in love with Beatty, and it is so sadly obvious.
