Mario, I think you should browse through the “Save A Dog” app. on Face Book and rescue your new “best friend” from a shelter or rescue group. Besides you can choose a mix of your two favorite breeds. :o) Good Luck!!

Oh, Mario! Please, none of the above. Please get a puppy from the puppy jail. There are so many cute dogs at the Humaine Society or your local animal shelter. All my dogs have come from shelters and are THE BEST! I see you with an active dog like a black lab or golden retriever. I have never personally had either of these breeds, I tend to like the smaller, more cuddly ones like the shitzu or poodle. But Mario, you are a manly man, young and active. Either the lab or retriever would love you forever and be as active as you are. Just be sure to get a young one that will be with you for a long time, and then you will be able to train him/her the way you want.

Although the Shih Tzu require daily grooming…they are well worth every bonding moment. Trust me! Ms Miracle is all that and a bag of chips!

A golden lab or a Chesapeake Bay Retriever would be a good match, I think.
If you want the dog as a running buddy, I don’t think the short legged, chunky type would be well suited. And, I think men prefer the larger breeds.
German Shepherds are beautiful dogs, but in my experience, can be unpredictable with strangers. I think a gentle, friendly dog would be better for you as you no doubt have lots of visitors.

I’m a huge fan I grew up watching you on “Saved By the Bell” and i think a great dog for you to get is either a German Shepherd I love those type of dogs or a Dachshund another type I love!! I own a Dachshund and she is a sweetheart but she is also part Jack Russell and most people think because of her breed she is a really hyper dog so I also recommend getting a mixed breed instead of a purebred, but it’s your choice.

All dogs are great, but you cannot go wrong with a Saint Bernard. Long hair or the rarely seen but original short hair. Yeah short hair! it was awesome to find out that they originally were short hair, but they got bred to enhance the breed and then came long hair saints. They are awesome dogs; sweet, funny, full of character. From a person who works really hard, and somewhat long days my saints have brought me out of tough times. Just spend a few moments with some saints. When they’re pups they are funny guys, and when they grow up, they are still the same. It’s the dog that stays a pup.

Mario, Look for a dog you can save from being destroyed. You will see his or her face and just know that it was ment to be, a mix breed is just as good as a pedigre. Just remember it is like being a parent to a toddler takes alot of patience and time. Read books from the Monks of New Skete, “The Art of Raising A Puppy” they are known for their training and never say your dogs name with “No” or “Bad” or anything negative only say it with positive words or sounds. We just adopted a puppy from adopt a pet at 10 weeks old 3 days later he almost died from puppy parvo (which he had prior to us getting him but had no idea) 4 days later after emergency pet hospital and IV feeding at a Vet for 2 more days and $2,500.00 we were able to save him for our 7 year old son who had saved up his money to get Sparky. Now 5-1/2 Months old we have learned alot and my best advise to you is to read, read and read books prior to getting your pup we made some mistakes and it takes longer to re-train than to train from the begining.

I think you should go with a beagle, they are such good company and are a happy go lucky breed. I have two and love them to death.
