Cowell: 'Idol' Chemistry 'Different' without Paula

Simon Cowell has broken his silence about Paula Abdul's decision to leave "American Idol," telling "Extra" that this season of the show is "different," and "I miss her, of course."

The tough judge doesn't want to "get in the middle" of the "American Idol" execs and Abdul, but he dished that the chemistry between the judges is different without her. "Extra's" Terri Seymour asked Cowell to explain and he bluntly answered, "It's like comparing a carrot to a banana... They are different."

Paula's days on "Idol" seem to be over, but she's "someone who will always work." Since leaving "AI," the pop star has guest starred on "Drop Dead Diva" and continues to work on her QVC jewelry line. She'll also be hosting VH1's "Divas Live" on Sept. 17.

You have got to be kidding. Paula’s only contribution to the show was to be a target for fans who want to feel better about themselves. She had no original thought, could not be critical, loved everyone and everything (drug induced), had no singing talent and was dumb as a stump. These comments show where our country is going. Pure mush.

Without Paula I will not watch. You did not need another judge!! The show is certainly not better.

AI won’t be watched in our house without Paula - that other dame is lame…..She adds nothing to the show.

Fox has always been making mistakes like this. Do you remember Titus? Whether u like the show or not… It was the most succesful show Fox had on TV to date. It was the most viewed show on TV when it was cancelled. And it was cancelled because Christopher Titus and the execs had an arguement on how the show should go. It was Titus’ life, he wrote it all… why change something that was already working???

Please Please GET RID OF KARA. No one likes her.BRING BACK PAULA!Simon you and Paula make the show. Kara can’t sing or write a good song. She makes a fool of herself. Can’t stand to hear
Kara’s voice or to watch her. If she is stil on this season I will stop watchng the show.

I think that fox is so arrogant that doesant knows admit their mistakes ,i mean bringing kara back when NO ONE wanted her back ?? pleasee
and now paula is not there anymore ,well if they dont care for what we want so i will do not care about idol 2 !!
I’m waiting for paula come back on tv ,bc i sure she will do great … she is an amazing entertainer and its a shame that idol will loose that !!

yeah, im sure its very different. from having a charismatic entertaining woman with millions of fans next to him, he now has a bland boring woman with No fans next to him. Even after a year on Idol still nobody gives a damn about Kara. and even after leaving idol, paulas fans still stay with her! idol without paula would be so boring i stimply have no interest in it. the singing and simons mean comments are all getting old after 8 years, Paula was the ONLY thing that kept me watching. now shes gone and i have No reason whatsoever to tune in next year. I think CBS and ABC have some good shows running on tuesday and wednesday nights…

god how much clear we need to get ??
stop with this stuped guest judges thing and bring the one who really matters to us IDOL FANS !!
and simon if dont wanna get involve why do you tell us last month that “she willbe on the show? ??
now paula is gone and you will continue on idol and will even sign for 3 more year ??
why make us believe that you would NOT do idol without her and then forget everything you said ??
i will never watch idol again if fox dont bring paula back !!!

Do get involved, Simon!! This decision affects you, too. Tell Fox how much working with Paula means to you, and how the show is suffering without her. They’ll listen to you.

i dont care about idol without Paula. so i couldnt care less if the chemistry is better or worse. i wont be watching without her. Without Paula, Idol is not interesting. which simon kind of proves here. even when shes out (for now anyway), he and everyone else cannot stop talking about her!! and you know what would start a media and fan frenzy? If paula comes back for first live show…
