Phony Michael Jackson Charity Goes to Court

Administers from Michael Jackson's estate sued two corporations for exploiting the superstar's death.

Administrators of Michael Jackson's estate sued two corporations for exploiting the superstar's death.

The lawsuit claims the Heal the World Foundation and United Fleet wanted to trademark phrases including "King of Pop," "Heal the World," "MJ," "Neverland" and "Thriller" to deceive the public.

In 1992, Jackson founded his own Heal the World Foundation, but it was inactive at the time of his death.

"John McClain and I as Special Administrators will continue to be vigilant in protecting Michael's legacy from unauthorized exploitation and in protecting Michael's fans from being deceived," Jackson lawyer John Branca said in a statement.

A recent CBS News investigation reports the defendants' web site had become "a magnet for fans searching for a Michael Jackson charity."

He has a website sign up on there and you’d see list on there over thirty of them all together. The Michael Jackson one he’s got.

Perhaps the lawyers for the Jackson estate will provide a current list of Michael Jackson’s active charities for us to make donations.

Great to hear that John Branca and John McClain are finally going after this (fake) Heal the World foundation that is exploiting Michael Jackson. I almost wanted to make a donation to the “charity” after MJ’s death but was stopped just in time after reading a press release that this foundation is not the same one that MJ has originally founded in 1992. Keep up the good work Branca and McClain! Please go about Rabbi Shmuley next.
