Simon Cowell wants Paula Abdul back for season 9 of American Idol

After 8 successful seasons on "American Idol," Paula Abdul's new manager says his client might not be returning to the FOX show. Fellow judge Simon Cowell tells "Extra" he wants her to keep on judging!

"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,'" David Sonenberg told The Los Angeles Times.

Abdul hasn't received a proposal to return to the hit competition series, and Sonenberg says of the delay, "I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," and added, "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

Both Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest have signed lucrative deals to continue on "Idol." Cowell tells "Extra," "She'll be fine. She'll be on the show," adding, "I don't get a lot of say. I've just made it clear that I want Paula on the show."

Seacrest wants Abdul back behind the judging table too, telling "Extra," "I think as far as I know, you'll see everybody back. I hope so."

"Extra" wants to know: Should Paula move on from "American Idol"?

I stopped watching American Idol since Paula left. It does not interest me AT ALL anymore without Paula sitting next to Simon. Their chemistry together kept me glued to the screen every week.

Funny how the Idol producers screwed Paula and now they are getting screwed themselves by Simon leaving the show. Ha, what goes around comes around. If they were smart, they would know that Simon would NOT be leaving if Paula was still on the show. Shove your show up where the sun don’t shine.

Sorry but this Kara Dioguardi is so full of herself, she should be the one leaving. I can’t stand her, American Idol really “Jumped the Shark” when they brought her on board. Totally destroyed the chemistry. Get rid of Kara and bring Paula back.

”H” to the ”N”, hell no, I would absolutely never ever consider seeing another season of American Idol ever again if Paula decides not to return back to the show. They have been the original three musketeers of that show from the gecko and so help me God that should certainly continue to be the actual case for the forseable future at least. Also, it would be tremendously unfortunate for me to decide to stop viewing that show all of the sudden, because I’m a devoted fan of Idol and I’ve been watching the show since it’s season debut back in 2002. Lastly, heaven for bid if the producers of Idol decide to potentially replace Paula with that redundant fool, Kara Dioguardi, that would unquestionably speaking be the final nail on the coffin for that show, and on top of that, talk about further insult to injury. We’ll see what happens, cheers, :)

American Idol needs Paula she’s unpredictable which is what makes live tv. Paula and Simon are the only reason I continue to watch the show they make the show with thier constant fighting and making up. Man if the can give Ryan $15,mil a year when all he does is try to compete with Simon then they can give her a raise. Come on fox giv credit where credit is due KEEP PAULA! KEEP PAULA! KEEP PAULA! I heard Paula called up people and pleaded for their support. Then she called Extra TV and pleaded for them to listen to her story and publish it. Her and her manager are starting to sweat bullets August is right around the corner. Bye-bye airhead, hope your plan backfires this year. I think it’s hilarious when people say they will quit watching if she leaves…yeah right you will it’s to compelling to you to do so.
