VOTE: Weigh In on Palin/Letterman Feud!

Sarah Palin and David Letterman feud

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin picked a fight with David Letterman after he made jokes about Yankees stud Alex Rodriguez "knocking up" her daughter.

On Wednesday, Dave announced on his show that his jokes on the Palin family were "unpleasant" and "ugly" and said he would love to have the Governor as a guest on "Late Night." Palin's camp responded with a statement saying, "The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show."

"Extra" wants to know: What's going on here?

NEXT: Happy Birthday Pete Wentz!

Wow the comments on here are very one sided. Lets face no one, including Letterman, said it was OK to rape a 14 year old. If Palin continues advocating abstinence, but her own daughter gets pregnant she should expect jokes made about the situation. Her website’s claim that Letterman was advocating “rape” is ridiculous and hypocritical. Her family doesn’t walk her talk. Why didn’t they file statuatory rape charges against their daughter’s boyfriend? Oh, yeah, because they were both under the age of 18 so maybe that makes it OK. But comments or jokes are not OK. Hmm……

I can’t believe he made jokes about Yankees stud Alex Rodriguez “knocking up” her daughter on National Tv.

With the major gaffe created by NBC, by extracting IQ points from the show by appointing Conan, myself and many friends and business acquaintances had resolved to switch to Dave. Within the confines of watching the Letterman show on nights that The Tonight Show was a repeat, and putting up with Dave’s less than disguised left wing political, this latest attempt at humor by Dave has gone way too far. As seriously discussed by many I have been in discussion with, CBS, the sound you hear is Dave being turned off by us permanently. There’s no place for his distasteful humor.

Regarding Kevin (post 6-11009

You, as a typical liberal, are saying Palin was not ready for the Vice Presidency.

Your buddy Obama only had 2 years experience in the Senate where he sidestepped much of the voting, never owned a business, never met a payroll, never was a Governor - which has far more responsibility than a US Senator.
He runs the White House like a college fraternity with like minded clueless people, many of them fellow thugs from thd Chicago political machine.
He is trashing the country, bankruptilng the country, trying to socialize everything in sight.
I think you should look in the mirror and do a little reflecting (mentally)
At least you didn’t sign your name anonymous.

Concerning Palin / Letterman feud.

What idiot wrote this text ?
“Alaska Governor Sarah Palin picked a fight with
David Letterman”

Letterman fired the first shot but you in the press seem to always take the liberal slant and try to skew everything against Republicans. If Letterman had made those same comments about Obamas wife and daughter - you would be screaming from the mountain top and probably Letterman would have an immediate visit from the Secret Service.
As far as I am concerned, Letterman should go the way of Rosie Odonell - right out the door.

I am surprised Letterman is even on TV. Says a lot about a man when all he can say about another person is trash. He is a true lame duck and TV could be served a lot better without him. He’s not funny - he’s sick. Why do you say “Palin attacked him?” Seems the other way around to me. He may make up a lot of excuses but it’s clear he attacked and insulted the daughter that was with her mom at Yankee stadium.

Dave,
You have a nerve to make comments about a teenager getting pregnant. You got your live in pregnant and didn’t have the decency to marry her. What does that make you. You need to retire.

This made me so mad to think this Jerk would go on TV and say something so awful about a young girl. I bet he would not say this to her fathers face who is a real man. I will never watch his show again and hope he drops dead of a heart attack.

I saw the whole thing… there was no apology. Just sarcasm. Using someone’s child for political propaganda is a discusting thing. Sugar coat it all you want. I like Dave and his show but saw the shows in question and am not happy with him. I changed the channel. Then, Howard Stern. Wow!
If I was the father of this girl I would meet him in a dark alley.
Sick and tired of cruelty. I thought there was only one Jerry Springer. It kind of makes me wonder where his mind is? It really looks like he has wierd things about young girls on his mind. I love how the folks sticking up for him don’t leave leave their name on the comments. Also, he just had a child out of wedlock himself just recently with a way younger woman??????

Letterman went WAY over the line here. WAKE up people, this is a 14 year old girl! I guess if the liberal media makes cracks against a minor (as long as shes a member of a conservative family) it’s OK. I personally WILL NOT watch this trash ever again. What has happened to our country? Have we become that trashy that making fun of a 14 year old girl being raped is OK? If this was your 14 year old daughter, you’d be enraged. If someone said something like this about my 14 year old daughter in person, they’d be swallowing their own teeth.

I used to like Mr. Lettermans show, now you could not pay me to watch it. Very sick “old man”…not funny at all no matter which daughter he thought he was making fun of….children should be off limits for off color humor…he should know better even if his writers don’t.

All celebrities agree; their children (especially under 18)are “hands off!”

Dave do your research, before reading those cards!

Palin,
Take a joke. It is your fault for putting your children on tv when you tried running for vp. Which you never should have, you were clearly not ready and never will be ready to take on such a responsibility or challenge considering you can’t even keep an eye on your own 18 year old who now has a child. Get over it. Jokes are made about everyone that is on tv, don’t blame him blame yourself. You are extremely overreacting.

In what world does someone who defends their daugher AFTER someone makes a vile sexually perverted joke about her the one “picking a fight.” A 62 year old man jokes about the statuory rape of your daugher - he’s the one picking a fight. I’m not a violent person, but if anyone deserves a pop in the mouth by someone’s father, David Letterman does. (Plus, he’s a d**n liar when he says he was really talking about the older girl Bristol, not the 14-year old, Willow. First, talking about Bristol being forcibly impregnated by a baseball player is foul in itself. But, if he and his staff knew that Palin was at the Yankees game, they full well knew which daughter she was there with. They are just full-on lying now that there’s an uproar about which daugher he meant).

Kids are off limits.Dave you must be really feeling the pressure of being second fiddle to Conan. I will never watch David Letterman again. Throwing your joke writter under the bus. You’ve shown your true colors!

Todd and Sarah seem to be sticking with their inaccurate interpretation of the joke regarding Bristol Palin, maintaining that the joke was about Willow. It doesn’t even make sense for Letterman to joke about Willow. The Candies spokesperson for abstinence, 18 year old Bristol Palin, is the logical butt of that joke. It wasn’t hard to figure out the first time he said it and I suspect the Palins figured it out too. Their deliberate misunderstanding allows them to play the victim.

The truth is that Bristol is parading as a role model for Candies and it is just as tasteless as Letterman’s joke. But, since Bristol and her family have seen fit for her to accept that job, they should prepared to accept whatever criticism and tasteless humor goes with it. Bristol Palin is not a child. But why face at uncomfortable fact when it can be so easily twisted. Perpetuating the falsehood that the joke was about Willow makes Sarah and Todd just as guilty as if they had told the joke about her themselves.
