VOTE: Franco vs. Pattinson for Buckley Role

Two of the hottest men in Hollywood are going head-to-head to play musician Jeff Buckley in the biopic.

BlackBook reports "New Moon's" ferocious lover Robert Pattinson and "Milk" star turned Columbia grad student James Franco are both vying for the Buckley role.

Buckley, the son of singer Tim Buckley, gained popularity in the early '90s and died tragically in a 1997 accidental drowning in Memphis at age 30.

Really? You want edward for buckley? Maybe justinbieber can be michael tighe. Don’t go with someone because their all over the cover of star magazine. He’s horrible. You would lose a lot of jeff fans with that one. Franco is a great actor. No one can sing like buckley but he was more than his music. Franco is right. The mopey vampire guy is just silly. Don’t make this movie a joke.

Who in God’s name would want Pattinson for this role?! He would never be taken seriously. His vocals are awful in comparison to Buckley’s, and for one, they are completely different singers in terms of style. Franco does look like him, but looks a lot more like his father, Tim Buckley. The vote is pretty pointless anyway, seeing as people seem to be voting for Pattinson due to his supposed “beautiful, sexy voice”. No. And Jeff wouldn’t even want a film made about his life, anyway. He never wanted to be glorified. He wanted it to be about the music, and definitely not have tween fans of some over-blown series coming to see a film for the actor, and not for what Jeff worked so hard for.

For those of you who truly appreciate the life and work of Jeff Buckley, then you know this role requires a lot of depth. James Franco could bring this and James Pattison would be a seriously disappointing choice. Don’t get caught up in the Pattinson (Twilight) hype!!!

James Franco is the only choice here:

It’s ironic because the first time I saw a picture of Jeff Buckley, I thought he was Buckley’s doppelganger!
For the love of God, you can NOT cast the kid from Twilight. I’m sorry—he has way too much ‘type-cast’ baggage from his latest teen-vampire role.
Buckley is, single-handily, the most beautifulest person. His songs paint him as a Greek god.

Please, cast James Franco for the role.

James actually looks like Jeff a lot more than Rob. I think either of them could pull off the singing or they wouldn’t be considered for the role in the first place, so since James resembles Jeff more, I’d say him. Just because we’ve seen Rob on youtube doesn’t mean that James has zero musical talent.

I think either one could do a really good job. Yea, the look of the role is important but it should also be based on who has the better audition. The one who could convince the casting director that they can add to the role more, who can make their job easier by casting them because they can offer more to the role. James or Rob could do a great job.

Sure, James Franco has a longer, more illustrious, filmography, and reputedly looks more like Jeff Buckley, but Robert Pattinson is a very talented musician with an incredible gift of mimicry, as well as being a real chameleon (have you seen how different he looks in pictures??). Not to mention he is probably the most bankable actor in the world right now.

So if it’s a matter of voting, the vote goes to Robert Pattinson. (Hope it matters.)

Both actors are talented, but in terms of casting a bankable actor in the role, Robert Pattinson is a sure winner. He has such a legion of fans world wide that you could cast him in a cornflakes commercial and people would pay to go and see it.

Franco Looks more like Jeff Buckley than RPattz does. Not sure of his vocals though. Personally, Rob has talent that reaks and should be used in more constructive way than impersonating a gloomy singer.

Rob is the one with the beautiful Sexy voice and could really play Buckley. He is a fantastic musician and I love his voice. It really turns me on!

This is a tough one, but I think Rob wins by a nose. His musical talent should make the difference.

Pattinson himself said that Franco would probably get the part, because he looks so much like Buckley. Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get a chance to audition and show what he can do. Biopics are always a bit soulless when they make the actors mime. So I do hope they use the actor’s voice, in which case, Pattinson does have an edge.

I’m for Franco!!!!!
He’s a very talented actor, sings beautifully also (remember SNL). Besides, James Franco looks a lot more like Jeff Buckley than Pattinson. I hope he gets it. And Rob has no talent.
Musical talent for this movie is not so important, because there will be a phonogram of Jeff Buckley.

I think Franco is a better actor than Pattinson (not to mention he could be made to look exactly like Jeff) so I voted for him. The only edge Pattinson has on Franco is that he has a good voice.

I actually like Franco, but I don’t think he should get the part just because he happens to look like Jeff Buckley. Pattinson has real musical talent, and a unique soulful voice. That’s much more relevant to who Buckley really was. I’m for Pattinson.

O tuff one. Rob has an amazing edge to his voice when he sings. a edgeness, which reminds me of Jeff Buckley. But i have to say, James really does look like him. I don’t know :( i think i’d like to see Rob do it more though
