Palin vs. Letterman: It's War!

Sarah Palin and David Letterman feud

It's a battle of epic proportions! In one corner, there's an enraged mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin... and in the other corner, it's Dave! Palin slammed Letterman for "perverted comments" he made about her daughter during his show, Letterman explained his actions and now Palin is hitting back again!

Last night, Dave said Gov. Palin is a "lovely woman" and he would love to have her on the show. The Palins released a statement in response: "The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show. Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman." Snap!

The tiff began on Monday night's "Late Show," when Letterman joked that during the seventh inning of the Yankees game, Palin's "daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

Letterman followed up with more barbs on Tuesday, joking that "the toughest part of Palin's visit was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter," managing to insult a sitting and former governor in the same joke.

On Wednesday morning, Gov. Palin unloaded and said Letterman's jokes about her daughter were "disgusting" and "sexually perverted." Palin has three daughters; teen mom Bristol, 18, and Willow 14, and Piper, 8.

The politician released a statement Wednesday saying, "Laughter incited by sexually perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/N.Y. entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands -- that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others."

Todd Palin has his wife's back -- the hubby added, "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it, and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."

Letterman addressed the "fight" between himself and Gov. Palin on the "Late Show" Wednesday night, saying, "I can't really defend these, they're just jokes." He said he completely agrees with the Palins' statements but added, "That's not what I did."

The TV veteran tried to clear the air and said, "These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl."

Letterman continued, "Maybe these are questionable because the girl who actually, excuse me, but was knocked up is now 18 years old. So, the difference there is 14-year-old and of legal age -- okay, I can't really defend the joke. I agree. Unpleasant. Ugly."

"Extra" wants to know what you think. Is Palin overreacting or is Letterman out of line? Vote now!

Sarah Palin and Toad are just trying use the harmless comments letterman joked about to soak all the attention they can get. They love to play victim. They are well aware that Letterman was talking about unwed mother Bristol. He never mentioned anything about rape. What he should joke abour is Palin’s, incompetency, lies, and narcissism. Palin needs to carry her a$$ back up to Alaska and take care of all her homeless constituents who are suffering from their losses of their homes in the floods that President Obama had to declare a diaster area. She is an incompetent joke!!

Letterman is hilarious and no matter what his jokes are it would not change my opinion on the Palin’s good or bad. The Palin’s are in the spot light and their family issues are going to be jokes for comedian’s it is just that simple.

In the past I have always liked and respected David Letterman. I think this time he has overstepped his boundaries. I see NO humor in making jokes about children, especially a 14 year old. It is a shame that late night talk show hosts choose to make fun of children of political candidates. These children have no control over their parents choices and should be left alone and not become pawns in “entertainment foder”. It seems to me to cause a child emotional harm just to make jokes is unthinkable. I can’t believe David Letterman has stooped this low. I thought he was a man of integrity, but I guess not. He had the opportunity to apologize and instead chose to make excuses for his dispicable behavior. He obviously has it in for Sarah Palin, but to pick on children, is not the way to go about it. Shame on you Mr. Letterman. I hope and pray that no one ever attacks your son with “jokes” to get a laugh.

Letterman went to far and from his responce inviting Palin to his show and suggesting leaving her husband home shows he dosen”t really think he was wrong. How would he fell if someone made that type of remarks against his child. He was wrong…..

David shows no respect for Palin’s family. He has no heart. He has gone to far. His attacking jokes on Palin’s daughter shows his lack of repect for young women.

I wonder if the media would be so understanding if Letterman had made the same comments about one of Obama’s daughters? Letterman has an agenda to discredit Sarah Palin because she has an “R” after her name and not a “D.”

Letterman explained the jokes, apologized for the misunderstanding, i.e. mistaking Willow for Bristol, there is nothing more he could, or should, do to address the matter. Sarah and Todd Palin are in the public eye, therefore targets for comedians. They need to lay off of Dave- he is truly a GOOD man, father, husband, and entertainer. Sarah Palins remarks suggests he is a danger to children!? That’s what I find disgusting.

Give me a break. It was just a joke. If you choose to put yourself in the public eye then you become a target for comedians.. I’m sure people do not believe the jokes they here. Palin, move on.. Or, are you just trying to get more attention.. Thankfully she is not leading this country if this is the type of stuff she wants to focus her time on.

Sarah Palin thrives on any publicity that she can get, and this is just another excuse for her to get some attention. It’s so obvious that Letterman or his writers were referring to Palins teen-mother daughter that’s what made the joke work. They just failed to get the facts straight, and now the Palins are feeding off of this for publcity and it’s sickening. It was a joke, why drag their 14 yr old into this and throw “rape” into the picture. Please, the US would be better off if the Palins would just go away for good.

It is NEVER okay to bring the kids into it. Palin chose to be a public figure not the kids. This is in poor taste no matter the age of the kids. Leave the kids alone.

It’s totally GREAT how an amazing comedian can turn the unjustified ravings of those right wing fundamentalist wackos! They are SO sick and twisted, and David Letterman does an awesome job of mocking them while alleging an apology!

Nice job David ! You are still a class act. :)

The Palin’s and those like them, need to just fade away…

Letterman knew that Palin’s daughter was 14 years old. As a liberal he didn’t think that anyone else would care.
He is disgusting and should be thrown off television.
His life with an illegitimate child should speak volumes about the creep!

Palin needs to go home I don’t know why she is still in the news. Joke bad taste David apologized Palin needs to not make such a big deal out of a bad joke and I never heard anything about rape in the joke except for Palin tring to define the joke Palin really has bad taste.

Typical republican - can dish out crap all day long, but can’t take anything in return. Not to mention, it’s a total waste of time even giving this media coverage.

Mike you have been smoking too much hemp rope. Letterman is a disgusting idiot who is striving for media attention. His show is in the dumps and he is hanging on by his finger tips on his lousy show. Maybe the liberal left wingers will make him a Czar. God I can’t wait until the next election to get rid of all of these socialistic, marxists, fools.
