Kris Allen to Sing at NBA Finals

American Idol's Kris Allen will sing the national anthem at the NBA finals

The NBA is teaming up with "American Idol" this weekend. Season 8 champ Kris Allen is scheduled to sing the national anthem at the second game of the NBA finals on Sunday.

The 23-year-old will serenade basketball fans at the Staples Center when the Los Angeles Lakers play the Orlando Magic. The Lakers won the first game Thursday night. The final score was 100-75.

In July, Allen and the top 10 "Idol" finalists will return to the Staples Center with the "American Idol" 2009 summer tour.

Kris' version of the anthem will air live this Sunday on ABC.

You know what makes me laugh the most? The media (well, most of the time, but esp. now)and their constant focus on Adam - TV, news, mags, websites, radio, etc - as though doing this will change him into the winner of American Idol! It’s almost as funny as it is desperate, like they think if they ignore Kris, and hype Adam, everyone will get confused and ‘brainwashed’ into believing that the over-saturated one must be the winner. They do it with politics, too. I find it pretty sleazy, on their part. It matters not, anyway. KRIS ALLEN IS THE WINNER OF AMERICAN IDOL 8!!!!!!!!!!!

- Adam is great, but Kris won - alert the media!!

BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT vocals!!!! How can ANYONE say he shouldn’t have won, this ‘dark horse’ who constantly carried over week to week, never in the bottom three, always a gentleman?? CONGRATULATIONS, Kris!

Kris really justified his win at the NBA Playoffs. He has a BEAUTIFUL voice, and his performance gave me goosebumps. He and Adam are both on the verge of doing great things, so there’s no need for sour grapes on the part of Adam’s fans.

Most of Adam’s fans are so rude. Hey guys, Adam is already doing great as a runner-up, just be happy for him. The more these creeps bash Kris, the more I want to show him my support. Not only does he sing like an angel, Kris is also an amazing person. I hope his dreams of gaining respect in the music industry comes true. Being popular is easy for guys like the AI Top 10, gaining respect is a whole different story. You go Kris!

I saw this in the nick of time, just 10 minutes before the beginning of the Playoffs. Can’t wait to hear Kris sing the National Anthem. I love the tradition of having the new AI winner sing the National Anthem at the NBA Playoffs.

I’d almost bet that “Dalia” is quite smitten with our President too?

Just an “observation” of course.. lol

Adam didn’t sing his heart out, he put on a good act and that’s all it was, a good act he had been practicing on for years. Kris is the one with the heart and soul. Adam fan’s get over it, Kris won because a big majority of America prefers the real thing not an act.

Kris you deserve to be right where you are, the winner of American Idol. There are sorry losers still whiny and crying and showing to be bad sports as you can see by Dalia. Dalia is a big idiot and a crying brat.

KRIS YOU DON’T DESERVE THE TITLE OF “AMERICAN IDOL”!!!!!! YOU DON’T HAVE TALENT, ALL YOU HAVE IS JUST A PRETTY FACE, NOT CUTE, BUT PRETTY, YOU ARE A PRETTY BOY, A POSTER BOY. THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD AND WHO HAS TALENT AND HAS PIPES… AND WHO CAN SING HIS HEART OUT AND PERFORM, SING, ETC, IS “ADAM LAMBERT”!!
