I have been watching Jon and Kate + 8 for 4 years now and haven’t missed an episode. I am from the small town in PA where several seasons were shot. As much as I admired Kate for her mothering skills, I could see the tension festering for some time. Let it be known that very few people would allow a tv camera into their lives while raising 8 children, least of all me. I know that both Jon and Kate sincerely love their children and loved each other. It was always obvious. But the interviews are a tell-all if one can read tension. Kate would regularly shame her husband if he spoke anything that displeased her or any time she may have wanted to say more, which was often. She loves the spotlight!
Jon loves his privacy. I don’t think his heart was in it from the beginning. He knew what the program could bring financially to his children so he played the game. But the CONSTANT ridicule from his wife was hurtful and degrading to this incredible dad. My heart goes out to both of them. Kate is clueless and cannot be told anything! She needs to be open-minded about hearing her shortfalls. She has pushed her husband away. It’s so sad. I love the kids. They are precious! Obviously both parents have done a fine job. Jon needs to realize that his 7 year itch will be infectious to his family. I do believe he truly loves Kate but the constant public criticism and humiliation have reduced him to hiding from cameras. Kate has pushed away a good man. She can redeem herself by viewing past episodes and understanding how very hard she was on him. No man would take that.
