Jon: Exploitation Claims are 'Ridiculous'

Embattled reality star Jon Gosselin is speaking out to defend himself and his family -- and slamming critics who say he and his wife Kate are exploiting their children by putting them on TV.

"Exploited?" Jon asks People magazine. "I don't even want to use that word, because I think it's ridiculous." Gosselin and his wife are the parents of eight children -- 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets -- and Jon insists that he will always put the happiness of his children first, even if that means quitting reality television.

The Gosselins became paparazzi targets after tabloids accused Jon of cheating on Kate. Since then, Jon admits that it's been a challenge to avoid shutterbugs. "All of them are sitting at my house and I'm here," Gosselin says during the NYC interview. "I swoop in and swoop out."

The show STOPPED being about the kids once they hit the tabloids. I LOVE JON and dont blame him for getting away from Katezilla. HOWEVER,, JON you are exploiting your kids sorry to say. TLC is giving Katezilla ALL the time on the show and it STINKS…. TLC has RUINED this family and so has KATEZILLA

Dear John and Kate,
I am so sorry for all the struggles you and your family are going through. I have been watching your show from the first one hour special and truely my heart is breaking for you. I know you don’t know me at all and truely I don’t know you. However, your family has become a part of my families’ life and i’m so sad about the direction you guys are going in. I can’t watch it anymore. Please, I beg you. For the sake of your children, turn the camera’s off. Don’t be affraid about supporting your family. God will get you through it. He did once before right? Please, turn to your church or friends or whatever. The job you are chosing is costing you so much more than it ever would to have the cameras turned off for a while. Please, sit down together and watch all the episodes you have made together. From that first one hour special to now. You can see the change happen. Find eachother again, fall inlove with eachother again. My family and I are praying for you and yours.

honestly it should be called the kate show. i don’t think the its about the kids as much as being about kate. i use to be a fan, but not so much these days. i liked it in the begining when it was about the kids and this hard working couple. now its about kate, standing around barking orders to jon and the children. the more money they make the more kate does nothing. i feel for jon and the kids. as kate puts on her act for the film crew she laughs and enjoys flirting but in the same breath she screams and belittles husband . she refused to take any blame for jons indiscretions, but i disagree, it takes two missy!! i like many others watched the new show, but it just reminded me why i stopped watching 2 seasons ago!! she is so irritating . her kids faces when she kissed all on birthday, said it all

The fact that these people can’t or won’t see the exploitation of their children, is exactly what makes it all so very disturbing.
