Help Save Krissy Kobata

Twenty-six-year-old Krissy Kobata is suffering from a blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome, which means her bone marrow is failing. Krissy needs a donor to save her life -- and you can help.

Thank you, Extra, for helping Krissy get the word out on the importance of being a donor. The piece was very well done.

:( I SO wanted to help you, or someone!! I feel so bad that I cannot, however, due to my ITP. grr…my husband’s littlest cousin, who is 5, also has recently been diagnosed with this. She has horrible bruises all over her body and must receive blood transfusions. We are also trying to find a donor for her. Good luck in your search, Krissy.

My mother in law is suffering from the same disorder. Because of her age and not have a sibling she could not have a bone marrow transplant. She is getting the injection of a drug called vidaza which seems to be working, she has not had to have a blood transfusion in a month and her hemoglobin count is going up.

Krissy I saw you on Extra last night! I’m going to blog your appearance and post a link to this page so that others can watch your segment and will take action joining the Registry and will help to spread the word. You did a great job! Thanks to Mario and Extra for featuring your need and the link to “Be The Match” on their show and site. It is very much appreciated!

Dear Krissy, THANK YOU so much for bringing such an important issue to light. My son has acute leukemia and, like you, has no match among the millions of donors. (Ironically, he works for Warner Bros. which Extra is part of.) I will keep you in my sustained prayers & positive thoughts for a solid bone marrow match. Keep the faith. Miracles do happen! KD

hi krissy. first i want to say i will keep u in my prayers. I can’t even begin to imagine what u must be going thru, but just know i will definately keep u and ur family in my prayers. I am a thick girl but very healthy i work out everyday, however, i just tried to register to have the swab sent to me and during the screening they failed me cuz my bmi is too high! i am sorry i wasnt a candidate, but i will continue to get in shape and try back as soon as i am in limits! Take care and God bless you!

My husband and I were watching Extra and saw Krissy’s story. Our hearts go out to you and your family. We immediately said that we HAVE to do this. If we can help in anyway, especially saving someone’s life…there is no other option in our book. Just registered and should get my kit in a week…hope you find a match Krissy :)
