SPOILER: 'Dancing with the Stars' Winner

A champion has been crowned! Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and professional partner Mark Ballas are the winners of "Dancing with the Stars" season 8! Shawn is the youngest star to compete in the history of the show.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas win Dancing with the Stars

The 17-year-old has had an incredibly busy year. Before winning the coveted mirror ball statue, Johnson won a gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. In the middle of her junior year of high school, Shawn left her home in Iowa for California to try her luck on the "Dancing with the Stars" ballroom floor.

In March, a man in search of Johnson was arrested for trespassing on the CBS lot, after which Johnson and her family filed a restraining order against 34-year-old Robert O'Ryan. He was later charged with felony stalking and two counts of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Actor Gilles Marini and partner Cheryl Burke placed second in the competition and "The Bachelor's" Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani came in third.

I thought that the best dancer was Giles and that he should have won. I always watch DWTS but after this I don’t think I will be watching it. They did Giles wrong. I wish they could fix this somehow. I couldn’t even vote over the phone because a recording kept coming on. Giles is the WINNER!!!

“Miss Piggy” was not the best dancer. Gil was the best dancer.

And I thought Melissa won this competition! But hey I give a lot praises for Shawn, she deserves the win more than ever! NOW THE LADIES AND THE MEN ARE EVEN MATCH!

I will never watch again. Very seldom does the best dancer win. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that Gilles should have won, just like Mario should have won!!

I also agree with Nancy. Everytime I tried to call in for Gillle and Cheryl, I was either cut off or was told that I had reach my limit. I only had 2 call that actually connected. I don’t think that is fair an there was a possibility that Gilles might have won. In my opinion he dances better than Shawn. This also happen last season. You might want to change providers for this.

While the final three were all good, I do not believe Sean was the best and I am very suprised at this outcome. Melissa was my personal preference, but I would not have been suprised if it had gone either way between Melissa or Giles…Sean had not even been a factor in my book.

I loved Shawn and Marc, however, I tried to vote for Gilles by telephone for 35 minutes, recording kept coming on saying telephone company was having trouble, I wonder if Gilles would have won, with all the complaints of people not being able to get through. Never had a problem before voting by phone.

I was very disappointed. Gilles was the best dancer from the beginning. He was also very good to look at. One handsome man and dancing like he did, I could watch him do an entire show by himself.

THIS CONTEST WAS TOTALLY FIXED!!! I was unable to get a single telephone call through on Melissa’s number for the entire 90 minutes! When I called my telephone company Ntelos in the morning to complain, they had an account executive call me back. He told me that they lease their lines from AT&T and that AT&T blocked all calls to that number for the entire evening in my state of Virginia as well as the states around me and up and down the Eastern Seaboard. So the vote count was completey wrong as no votes could be made for Melissa by anyone using AT&T or any other phone company leasing phone lines from them. I was able to vote on-line but most people vote by phone so the count was completely off. My phone company told me that they had thousands of complaints and that when they reported the problem to AT&T, they were fully aware of the problem and had also had thousands of complaints. It had been done intentionally by AT&T! My phone company said they could see on my record all the times I had attempted to call the number and that it didn’t connect. So it is clear that Shawn did not win fairly! I’m not sure if ABC was in on the fix but it seems odd that AT&T would do this deliberately on their own! SO THE SHOW IS FIXED AND I WILL NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN!!!

I was rooting for Melissa but I’m happy with Shawn winning over Gilles, the only reason Gilles made it so far and had a chance at winning was because he showed off his body so much and most of the voters are women so of course they are going to vote for him.

I don’t think Shawn should have won thru out this whole thing she wasn’t scoring that well and I don’t think she deserved it. It just didn’t seem right because Giles has been scoring good all along. I don’t agree with it. And I don’t know if I’ll be watching DWTS ever again. I didn’t even like her attitude.

when i saw the judges give it to shawn last nite i said ‘why watch tomorrow.’ i was right. i am so disappointed that giles did not win. he deserved it. his freestyle was great. shawn’s was great choreography but not in sync, yet the judges praised her. this is so wrong, and the reason i stopped watching after mel b. came back for lil kim. guess i’ll stop watching again. judges use their biases to sway voters too much.
