Celebrities Protest Prop 8

Thousands of California citizens protested the state's Supreme Court ruling that upheld the ban on gay marriage -- including some of Hollywood's finest and D-List!

drew barrymore protests proposition 8

Kathy Griffin, Drew Barrymore, Perez Hilton, Emmy Rossum, Shanna Moakler, Pete Wentz, Mark Hoppus, Kelly Osbourne, Luke Worrall, Eliza Dushku, Deborah Gibson and Sophia Bush were among the celebs who turned out for a West Hollywood rally to campaign for the right of same-sex couples to marry.

"Please overturn this," Barrymore said in a public plea. "You can not define love and you can not define a family."

Now, two lawyers who argued on opposite sides of the Bush-Gore election battle are teaming up to challenge the upholding of Proposition 8. Theodore B. Olson and David Boies filed a challenge against the proposition in Federal Court, arguing that preventing same-sex marriage is a "violation of the equal protection and due process clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution."

The recent filing could push the fight for gay rights all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

VERA, you are so on the money!! They don’t protest those that are LIKE them (phony), that’s why. Some of these hypocrites don’t even BELIEVE in marriage, much less even try to STAY married. Someone, give these people some work,a movei, a commercial, voice-over, ANYTHING, so they’re not roaming around looking for the ‘next cause’ that only appeals to them if it seems to go against religion or conservatives or family or morals.

PS: I'm for gay marriage, straight marriage, whatever, ESPECIALLY when you have kids

I belive it says love thy
neighbors as thy selfs, not love thy neighbors as thy selfs unless
they are gay,or not like you.

I don’t see what the big deal is if the gay people get married…they love eachother and deserve the same right as straight people to marry the person they love….

These Gay men and women boast of NOT having equal rights!!

Sure they do.. the men have every right to marry a woman, and these women have every right to marry a man!! THAT IS EQUALITY!!

We “straight” people aren’t trying to change the laws, we’re merely trying to uphold a tradition handed down from the DAWNING of TIME!!

Making this thing a law, doesn’t “validate” anything in the belief system of the PEOPLE!! You’ll only be “married” in the eyes of the STATE, not “all americans”!!

Go be gay all ya want, stop attempting to FORCE a belief system on those that simply know better. Without ONE man and ONE woman, absolutely NONE of us would even exist!!

I’d take those earthquakes in California to have a “higher” meaning in that of God saying ENOUGH!!!

equal rights have not changed!!!

I just think it’s so ironic that so many of ‘Hollywood’s finest’ that turned out to protest already have this ‘right and privilege’ to marry, but are divorced! If it’s so important, why aren’t they still married??

So in their view the vote of the majority is wrong. I guess they believe we should take the vote away from these people. Why aren’t they protesting Obama? He believes the same as the voters of California. Because they are hypocrites. I didn’t vote for Obama and don’t want him as our President. Guess what. I lost and respect the vote of the people. These people should do the same. Come back in the next election.
