'Idol' Judges Zip It

0415idol.jpg

Last week's "American Idol" performance show ran eight minutes over, and viewers who use TiVo missed Adam Lambert's performance and the phone number to vote! In an effort to avoid that, the judges commented on each contestant in teams of two.

Host Ryan Seacrest explained, "We're working in teams tonight, so we make it in on time." Simon Cowell said they had to do it this way because the female judges talked too much last week. The show still ran three minutes over schedule.

"Kill Bill" director Quentin Tarantino hopped on board the FOX reality competition as a musical mentor. The top 7 sang songs from the cinema.

Tarantino picked a trite '90s ballad for Allison Iraheta. He chose "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from "Armageddon" to get her confidence up. The 16-year-old sang her heart out and Paula made note of her authenticity and remarkable talent. Simon called the performance "hot and spicy performance" and he thinks she believes in herself enough to go all the way.

Fan fave Adam Lambert sang and danced to "Born to Be Wild" from "Easy Rider." Paula declared, "The reason you're shakin' up this whole competition is that you dare to dance in the path of greatness." Simon said his vocals were incredible, but it was eerily similar to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," which Adam said he loved.

Danny Gokey performed without his glasses to "Endless Love." Paula told Gokey that midway through he pulled it together and really nailed the end. Simon said the singing was fine but he was bored.

Lil Rounds sang Bette Midler's "The Rose" with a gospel feel. Simon thought Rounds was terrible. The single mom defended her performance, saying she put her own spin on the song.

Will Gokey fall into the bottom three for the first time? Will Lil Rounds be leaving the big competition? One more singer goes home tonight on "American Idol."

Adam will win American Idol & to everyone that does not like him I really hate it for you! Adam has more talent than anyone who has been on Idol or as a porformer for that matter. He can take any song and make it sound better that the original artist…….

Karen is a very talented lady, however, there is 1 judge too mny. I have nothing against her. The judges booth is too crowded as it is. Simon is dead on on the singers, except for that lady from Scotland who sang a song from Les Miserabe. He was astounded, astonished and pleastantly surprised. He was sooo wrong then, but overall, he knows who the winner is going to be. It’s Mr. Adam, he is going to win. I am not ragging on Karen at all, I happen to like her real well.

2 MANY JUDGES, NOT ENOUGH TIME, I DON’T LIKE THE NEW FORMAT. THEY TALK 2 MUCH. SEEMS LIKE IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET TO THE LAST JUDGE, TOO MUCH INPUT. LESS IS MORE.

I DON'T LIKE THE NEW FORMAT.

Dear Destined: They’re really bashing her on E? Typical - it’s unnerving that people need the constant ‘cheerleading’ validations from Paula; nice as she may be, it gets sort of patronizing after awhile. All anyone has to do, however, is google Kara DioGuardi, and they’ll be treated to a rich resume relative to this competition - of course she was asked to join!! People love their sugar, but hate their medicine, so I guess another judge w/ an experienced opinion may not sit well w/ some. I personally prefer cutting thru the bs, and getting to the HELPFUL truth. thx 4 the nice words - PAULA???Is that you? (lol - just kidding, Destined!)

ALL THE JUDGES ARE CACKLING HENS, 3 judges was fine, 4 judges is a crowd. That new gal needs to move on and get a different job.

All judges need to speak and cut the extra gab from Seacrest. That was boring and I would not continue to watch if they keep this up. About Kara…she knows the business & is experienced in the business, but not ready for the camera. Kara expresses no ideas of her own. She follows everyone’s lead. When she speaks 1st, many times she either gestures, critiques in a few words or goes far out left from what the other 3 end up saying.

That 2 judge format was a real turn off.
The judging is second to the performances. Many of us watch anxiously awaiting Simon’s comments, probably, including the contestants.
Eliminate some of the Ryan’s nonsense and that would save plenty of time.

I predict Adam Lambert to not only be
the next American Idol, but as big
as “The Beatles”,”Elvis”, & “Michael
Jackson”…GO ADAM…
I am 69 years old and I love this kid.
He has great Charisma, looks, charm, great intertainer and knows how to work the audience.

I would like to hear what all the judges have to say. I think Simon should always be on idol.

Have to agree with the consensus here. Kara may be an expert in the music industry, but - much like Paula - likes the sound of her own voice WAY too much. How bout putting a watch on each judge? Give them thirty seconds, then turn off their mikes. Simple. Everyone has to think on their feet & get to the point, vs. some of these ridiculous rambling monologues. That’s pretty much what Simon does all the time!
As for Adam, he’s a superlative performer, but a highly over-rated singer. I hate the fact that the media is already dubbing him the runaway favorite, with vocalists like Allison & Danny belting out the music every single week.
