Swayze: 'I'm One of the Lucky Ones'

Patrick Swayze is fighting back at reports he's losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

"It's amazing to me that the tabloids such as The National Enquirer print such negative stories about me and my health when there are so many positive things going on in my life right now," he tells "Extra." I've started a new chemotherapy and, once again, I am one of the lucky ones with pancreatic cancer that is responding well to the treatment.

"There is a brand new, twelve week old, Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy named Kumasai in my life who is gorgeous and already showing that he will be one special dog. I am starting work on my new book, in addition to enjoying the fantastic response from everyone on my A&E series "The Beast."

"I hope in the future, the press will think twice about printing inaccuracies and painting an unpleasant picture when I have so much to be thankful for at this time."

Pictures in the latest issue of National Enquirer show Patrick looking gaunt and bald with the headline "The End." The pictures were reportedly taken last week as Swayze left his doctor's office in L.A. The photo of Swayze seen here was taken last month as he prepared to board his private plane.

While filming A&E's "The Beast" over the summer in Chicago, the Hollywood vet looked fit and healthy diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. Co-star Travis Fimmel confessed to "Extra" he was amazed at Swayze's swagger. "He's such an inspiration. He makes you not take life for granted. He's a real fighter."

Patrick, I lost my husband 3 months ago to pancreatic cancer, he was like you a fighter to the end. He battled it for 8 months, his drug used was gemzar he also was in stage four when diagnosed he only gave up 3 days before his death, he was 55 years old and I miss him terribly. Never give up, you sir were my husbands person he looked up to, he would say if he can do this so can I. God bless you and your strong wife. Jackie, Kirtland Ohio

Patrick never mind that tabloid. They dont know what cancer is. Yes it does cause you to lose weight. I know this because i was dianoised with stage two colon cancer and had surgery to remove it in 2003. I chose not to take chemo and radiation. In 2006 I was again diagnoised again with colon cancer. This time it was in the forth stage, again i had surgery to remove the cancer part of my colon again along with my rectum. Now i wear a colosomy. I did take nine weeks of chemotherapy with five hard weeks of tough radiation treatments in 2007 Thats not the end. The radiation treatments melted a portion (three feet) of my small intestines that called for more surgery That happened in early 2008. Than june 16 2008 my 29th wedding anniversary I went in for a colonoscopy and was told i was cancer free. Patrick think positive have alot of faith and always pray. God is the answer and remember we all love you and we are all praying for you. Sincerely, Tom and Thelma

Oh Good Lord! Can these slam rags even leave a cancer patient alone??? I KNOW he’s a celebrity, but MY GOD…he is fighting the biggest battle of his life right now! Let him be!

I hope and pray that he beats this thing and shows those idiots that weight loss often happens with cancer patients. THAT does not mean they’re at the end, for pete’s sake!

BACK OFF ENQUIRER!!!

Patrick: Who cares what those rag magazines say about you, we know that even rag papers as well as normal papers are full of lies. Just like Lorraine said, you are an inspiration to us all and she took the words out of my mouth. I too will buy your book when it comes out, you have a gorgeous wife, never seen your dog but your puppy sound great, never heard of the breed. Every movie and show you turn to gold, I have North and South on DVD, and I think I am slowing getting all your movies. I think I have Red Dawn, also Ghost, Dirty Dancing, I think I like to find Road House some where lol I will pray for you and your lovely family, stay strong and keep up the fight. I pray that they will find a cure and yes Chemo can make one look terrible but who cares what people think right? God can heal you my friend, all it takes is belief, and faith, Maracles do happen as the scriptures say!! (((((Patrick, dog and wife))))) Your loving fan!! Zdanax :) *MUAH* oxox

My definition of “LIFE” is: the inner or outter spirit our soul reside. We all are spirits, energy within.Patrick has a strong spirit, instead of assuming his fate, worry about your owns, he’s taking care of his.

Patrick,

Was myself in Stanford Hospital the better part of January 08. I was diagnosed with AML. I was near death when admitted. I heard you were here and had hoped we’d cross paths. I had a relapse a day short of a year and was back again this past January. Thought I’d look you up after seeing something negative about your condition. I’ve found attitude is everything. Miracles happen everyday. The first day in here last year my wife flopped an article on my bed from the S.F. Chronicle about 2 New York window washers that fell 47 stories to the sidewalk. One brother died immediately. The other was in extremely critical condition and not expected to live. At Chistmas a month later he was moving all extremities, talking with his family and expected to fully recover.
That story kept me going.

There are two ways to view life: Everything is a miracle. Nothing is a miracle.

Have you try urea therapy? I do and with good result, I regain the health that lost about 10 years ago.
Alternative medicine is less aggressive and less side effects and a lot more effective that the conventional medicine.
I know you will overcome this situation.

Thank you Patrick for all your wonderful movies. You are very talented. My husband has gone on to heaven since he passed from Pancriatic Cancer, so I can really relate. Before he went, we both saw angels appear. Your loved ones will see you again one day as I know I will see my husband. God Bless you and your family.

What an awful tagline for the article. The End? What does the media think chemo does? I’m not surprised by his appearance. Chemo takes you to the brink of hell before it’s through.

Stay strong Patrick. Fight the good fight!
