Liz Smith: 'Richardson Taken Off Life Support'

Journalist Liz Smith reports actress Natasha Richardson has been taken off life support at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. In a post on wowowow.com Smith writes, "Word is in at 1:30 PM WEDNESDAY they have taken Natasha off of life support."

An insider revealed to Smith, "Nobody goes to Lenox Hill who is really sick; if she'd had a chance to live, they'd have found another great brain hospital!"

UPDATE: The New York Post is now reporting that Richardson was removed from life support this afternoon.

The Post says mother Vanessa Redgrave, aunt Lynn Redgrave, sister Joely Richardson, ex-husband Robert Fox, husband Liam Neeson and her two children are keeping a vigil by Richardson's bedside.

In Liz Smith’s site, she says, ‘[I was told], “Natasha is brain-dead.” He said, “Natasha is dead.” So I ruined Bonnie’s lunch and my own.’

She may have been a “friend” of Natasha’s, but what an insensitive thing to say. She infers that had Natasha been merely “brain-dead”, ie rather than “dead”, the lunch would have been more enjoyable…… extraordinarily crass.

Ignore the jerks & their comments. Mom’s basement isn’t big enough for the pathetic lack of self-worth they deomonstrate, thus they resort to anonymous crudity. They just want attention - pretend they don’t exist and they’ll eventually go away.

A terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, as well as her husband and boys who must re-imagine life without their wife and mother. Not to mention the loss of a wonderful actress in a time where such are few and far between.

i’m so shocked. shes such a good actress. i hope this is just a rumor and shes feeling okay. nobody deserves to go to far with this. this is probley a rumor. people shouldn’t believe the internet … filled with lies. but if it is true, my heart and sympathy goes to her family and close friends :(

If She does pass away, I will be heartbroken. She is inspiring.
I hope the grief stricken family will donate her otherwise healthy organs so others would have a chance at life. I am donating my body to the Tennessee University Body Farm to help fight crime and help forensics to learn something from my body to help catch a criminal.

I totally agree with Marilyn as far as filtering comments that brainless imbeciles like “watermelon eating jigaboo” write! This is a professional site that reports news for God’s sake!!!!
