How to Survive a Layoff!

The unemployment rate is skyrocketing and the job market is smaller than ever, but "Extra" Lifechanger and financial advisor Danielle Hoston has the tips you need to rebound from a layoff, and hot job sectors to look into! Plus, what you can to do stand out to employers!

NEXT: Un Beso for My Love!

This is how I will survive this layoff. I released a song about the economic crisis “Unemployment & Greed”. It is available on-line at CD baby, and it will allow me to help someone who is unemployed.

UNEMPLOYMENT & GREED
Lyrics By: Larry Morris
Performed by: Powwah
Music Track: “Westside Story” Chad Morris
Publisher: Larry Morris Music BMI

Unemployment lines
One mile long
Plants closing down
People losing their homes

One President said
Just read my lips
Next time you vote
You better be hip

Mass Unemployment
At an all-time high
They say the recession
Is the reason why

People want jobs
Food to eat
Better health care
Will really be neat

Bank scandals and
The money is gone
While we the people
Repay that loan

Russia and China
Need some cash
While we the people
Recycle our trash

no jobs in town
nothing to do
No place to turn
No one to sue

People losing jobs
Feeling the pain
Killing fellow workers
Going insane

Working two jobs
All day long
Leaving the kids
Home alone

Watching the tube
Or in the streets
While the prices escalate
On the food you eat

Working two jobs
All day long
And can’t buy a home
Can’t afford the loan

So never look down
On those in need
You never know when
Your job might leave

Teachers
Taking cuts in pay
Because the union says
It’s the only way

News cast said
Just the other day
More cuts are coming
Without delay

Thousands
laid off this week
those that remain
their future is bleak

never knowing
what to expect
when this week’s pay
is your last check

Homeless people
Will work for food
Carrying signs
Of the economic mood

Corporate downsizing
Company greed
Trimming the fat
While everyone bleeds

Outsource jobs
Going overseas
And 700 billion
Is all that we need

I’ve said all of this
Just trying to say
That a few years is hell
Without no pay

Well sometimes you win
And sometimes you lose
But being without work
Ain’t nothing but the blues

Well that is all
I have to tell you for now
I know you’ll find work
Someway somehow

Stay in the groove
Because the world goes on
Make it happen for our selves
Because we are strong

If you don’t find work
Before too long
Hire yourself
You can’t go wrong

People of the world
Should stand up tall
Get down to business
And get on the ball

If we can’t help
The many who are poor
We cannot save
The few who are rich

Unemployment and greed
Is a terrible thing
So much unhappiness
It brings

Don’t let it get you down
And make you feel blue
It happened to me
And it could happen to you

Adlib….

Bailouts… corporate greed,
company greed,
from wall street to main street
