Liam Neeson and his two sons, Michael and Daniel, said goodbye to beloved wife and mother Natasha Richardson on Sunday. The actress was buried near her family's home in Millbrook, New York.

Mourners at the funeral included Natasha's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, aunt Lynn Redgrave and sister Joely Richardson. Actors Ralph Fiennes, Laura Linney, Alan Rickman, Timothy Dalton, Holly Hunter and Uma Thurman also paid their respects at the memorial service.

Before entering the church for the memorial, both Liam and Vanessa waved to the media, before Neeson assumed his position as one of his wife's pallbearers, and entered the church. The funeral took place at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and Natasha was buried in the adjoining cemetery.

To Vanessa Redgrave…

I address this letter to you as one grandmother to another. Last week my 11-year-old grandson was hit on the head with a baseball. It left no bump, no bruise, no cut. That evening he developed a headache. My daughter-in-law, remembering Natasha, decided to take him to their little local emergency room where he had a CT scan.
His skull was fractured and he had bleeding into the brain. He was rushed to the closest regional hosital for treatment. Fortunately, the bleeding stopped and he is expected to make a full recovery. I am telling you this in the hope that you will take some comfort in knowing that your beautiful daughter’s life (and death) had a profound effect on many people. My family will continue to pray for you and your family. May God comfort you.

Dear Liam,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I met you a couple years ago at a restaurant on the upper west side and mentioned we had both worked for G. Lucas, me as an editor.
Over the years I have come to realize personally I am more passionate about acting. Your ongoing dedication to the craft and art are a great inspiration. I have been a longtime admirer of Natasha, her beauty and humanity unparalleled. This tragedy has profoundly affected me.
What you had together is something I think everyone of any vocation dreams and wishes for and is so rare and precious in this world. In an industry of ‘make-believe’ you two had it for real!
My heart goes out to you and your sons.
Love, Duane

For Liam Neeson. Here is an Irish poem that I came across. The love you shared makes me believe that your beloved, if given the chance, would whisper to you.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all…
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss…
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief—
Don’t shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

God bless you and your family Mr. Neeson. I am just a stranger, but I do hope you find comfort in the words above.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Natasha Richardson.
Wife, Mother,Daughter,Sister and Friend and a fine actress of stage and screen.
To watch this beautiful woman perform has always been uplifting to me and to others I know. She is gorgeous with a gust for life and a great warth that comes across to her audience, I smile when watching Natasha. Glamorous and truly pretty and so talented. The camera loves this special actress and I will miss her future but feel a little comfort knowing I can still watch her on TV in her still active movies.
I weep for the family and wish them strentgh to be able to ride this through.
An Irish Poem for the family.

Death is nothing as all. I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Let my name be the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely
unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before- only better, infinitely happier and forever- we will be one together.
Bless you Natasha.

Such a tremendous loss to the family and yet the family showed such strength of character and poise to the world and such thoughtfullness to their fans and the press. This is how it should be handled and I am totally impressed by the dignity this family has displayed. It is no wonder Natasha looked at Liam with such overpowering emotion everytime you saw them together and spoke so lovingly of her mother and family.

Dear Liam Neeson & family,
I was and still am in schock of hearing about your beautiful Natasha. I’ve always followed both your careers maybe because besides being great actors, u both seem so nice and down to earth in interviews and photos.
Anyway, my Dad died when I was 15 and it is sad to lose a parent so young but youdo go on with the love of your family and most important, the great memories.
Take care and try to be ahppy as your Natasha as a wife and especiallya MOm, would want that.

Words can’t heal the pain you all feel but her memory will live on through the children for a part of her is in them. I’ve lost my father when young and I see him in my youngest son — Time is the healer — We all were lucky to have known her through her work — She was an angel on earth but is more so in heaven… She’ll live on forever in our hearts … I live very close to Millbrook, NY. You all were in my heart and prays that day. Her life was cut short and even though I never met her, I admired her.. Her work but most of all how she held her head up high in her private life…Her children were very lucky to have a terrific mother.
God bless you all in this time of need.
