Usher's Wife: Cosmetic Surgery Gone Wrong

0213usher.jpg

New details have been released about the procedure that temporarily left Usher's wife Tameka Raymond in a medically induced coma last Friday.

Just two months after the birth of her second son Raymond, 38, traveled to Brazil for post-baby liposuction on her stomach. "Shortly after she went under [general] anesthesia, she suffered a cardiac arrest," a rep for Sao Paulo plastic surgeon Dr. Silvio Sterman tells People.

On Saturday, Usher canceled his performance at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy gala on Saturday to fly to Brazil to be at his wife's side. Davis informed the crowd of the cancellation saying the singer had to leave due to "serious injury in the family."

Usher's rep Simone Smalls issued a statement on the star's behalf: "Tameka Raymond is in stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery in Brazil. Her husband Usher is with her at the hospital. No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time."

My prayers go out to Usher and his family and hope that his wife recovers soon.

For sure she did not tell the doctor that she had post partum problems. Brazil is well know for great plastic surgeons. These people don’t tell the doctors their medical conditions.

That doctor can’t even spell. I wouldn’t trust her to clean my nose.

I’m a cosmetic surgery consultant and the arthur of The Little Book of Lipo
Usher, Usher, Usher, why didn’t you call me first? Your wife was only four months post-partum and has suffered cardiac arrest after liposuction surgery! Here’s a man, who lives in Atlanta, where I’m based, who takes the advice of a friend. Obviously, someone who knows nothing about plastic surgery, and recommends for his wife to go to Brazil to have a very common surgery – liposuction surgery is performed in abundance here in the United States. One of the first things I worn my clients about is to have surgery close to home in case there are complications. One of the biggest things I think Tameka, Usher’s wife made, is that she was only post partum four months. Any reputable plastic surgeon wouldn’t touch a post-partum patient until at least six months but most won’t for even a year, depending on what the surgery is.

I hate it when I read stories like this. Here’s a woman, who obviously jumped into something that she knew nothing about and has taken a huge risk. I hope Tameka will be back in the states soon, where she can heal and be with her family again.

A story like this is always very disturbing to me. Here you have a famous artist, that takes advice from a friend that obviously knows nothing about cosmetic surgery and recommends for his wife to go to Brazil, to have a very common procedures performed that very well could have been done here in the United States. Brazil has some excellent doctors, in fact, many of them are pioneers in the industry, but I can promise you one thing, NO reputable American doctor would have ever performed a cosmetic surgery procedure on a woman who was only post-partum four months. This is so unnecessary and so sad. I hope others can learn from this unfortunate situation.

I guess we have an African-American President for nothing because we have yet to learn. Let’s be supportive to the Raymond’s.Yes, to be honest I think it was too soon to have surgery but the point is that she is alive and well and it will be up to her to realize that GOD is the reason she is still alive.Pray for her, better yet for yourself(all negative comments.)Mrs. Grant(SAV)

This totally racist statement tells me that she hates white women and ALSO that SHE is a pathetic woman of color who secretly wants to be white. If you can’t be white, hate white, right?

the ‘anonymous’ statement is right on point. People on these comment blogs are either incredibly young and immature, or just stupid! Thank you for your comments on how we have become such a dumbed-out society that death has no meaning and life has no value. Thanks again for the moral check!

Yes what Tameka Raymond did was irresponsible, premature, and dangerous, but to wish death upon her is simply deplorable. And to those who wished anything even remotely similar, you should be ashamed of yourselves. As for Tameka Raymond and others like her, I hope a lesson is learned from this painful experience. True beauty cannot be obtained on the table of a plastic surgeon and your body is not some inanimate object of interchangable parts. Optional invasive procedures are never a good idea. And to all my sisters of color, first there was Kanye’s mother Donda West, and now Tameka Raymond. We are beautiful. Leave the plastic surgery to pathetic white women and the even more pathetic women of color who want to be white.

What a dumbass she is. Couldn’t even wait 6 months after she squirted out another baby to make sure of future child support payments. It’s too bad she didn’t die. It would have been such a perfect ending to such a ridiculous marriage. Oh well. There’s always tomorrow.

You have to be an complete idiot to risk your life like that you just had a new baby then you go and do something like that….I mean what type of person would do that you have five kids you you look nice the way you are and besides usher don’t care he married you! evidently he dostun’t

This was totally self serving and irresponsible. After having as many children as she does, she knows it takes quite a while before your body is up to the challenge. I think she is disgusting and selfish. I’m glad she survived it because her children need their mother, but a good and sound one.

Your body is still healing 2 months after giving birth. What an irresponsible thing to do. People with money think they can buy themselves anything and use it as an easy way out. Let your body get back to normal naturally and work at getting your shape back. The doctors should be reprimanded for performing such a procedure shortly after having a baby.
