Salma Gives Back -- by Breastfeeding?!

Was Salma Hayek spotted breastfeeding someone else's kid?!

That's true! Hayek was featured in a story on "Nightline" about her humanitarian work in Sierra Leone. During her time in Africa, the actress breastfed a hungry infant.

Salma gave birth to her own baby girl Valentina Paloma Pinault in September 2007.

That was the sweetest thing ever. A woman helping another in feeding her hungry baby. Shows there are still some very giving people in the world. That was a wonderful display of a caring and loving mother.

I’ve always loved Salma Hayek and all the work she has done and who she truly is.That is the reason why I chose to name my daughter after her 4 years ago.Keep up the good work Salma

Did you notice in Salma’s story she said her grandmother was from Mexico. It has come to my attention, over the past few decades, it is from the old countries where people aren’t afraid of reacting towards others in the most intimate humane ways that we in USA are trained up against. I know that those peddlers of propaganda would argue against what I am saying. We are given taboos that go against the most infintesimal acts of kindness, all in the name of self-image. And don’t get me started on the breastfeading taboo. Then again, what would they talk about on gossip tv if it weren’t bad mouthing someone, anyone. I know what Salma did was natural, instinctual and *******. Maybe you could tell the story in a more positive light and leave out the negative overtones in your delivery of your story that fish for negative comments and opinions from those on the street. It seems our society is still preaching the puritan beliefs of seperation amongst peoples. I commend you Salma, for feeding a hungry sick child.

Such a kind act either as a mother or as a human being.

To the two that think that it’s digusting, you guys are ignorant. A previous post explained wet nursing before I could. There are still wet nurses to this day. It’s not a gross thing at all. She was feeding a starving child doing an act of kindness at this present time. She was supposed to carry around a baby bottle and find some formula while the child was really hungry? Give me a break, and do some research on things you don’t understand before you comment!!!!!

It’s a baby in need, why should it matter who’s breast it came from.

I am still breastfeeding and I would do it in a heartbeat for a starving child. Good for her - it is the most natural thing you can do. People who have a problem with it either have never breastfed, weren’t breastfed themselves, or are with someone who doesn’t breastfeed. Such prudes…

Women did this for other women during Katrina. Would you really let a child die of dehydration. There is no clean water. No reliable electricity that is if there are any breast pumps around to even put it into a bottle. My child dying or having another women breastfeed my child, this is a no brainer.

What’s the big deal? My son’s mother and her best friend nursed each other’s kids 30 years ago. And we’re not talking some strange ethnic culture here…these are two well-educated, modern, New England women. It was just a practical way to give each other some freedom, while giving the kids the best care.

What a wonderful show of true love. Many people don’t have compassion or are so self centered they wouldn’t do the same thing. Wet nursing has been going on for years here in the USA and other nations. Thank goodness there are people like Salma still in this world.

Thank goodness she has breast milk to breastfeed. I salute her for her selfless act of kindness. Many moms in this region are unfortunately unaware of the importance of breastfeeding, or are against it…If a baby is hungry and a mother is out of milk, and there is milk available from someone else.. thank goodness someone as selfless as she is can step up to the plate and feed an innocent hungry baby! Cheers to you Selma!

Wetnursing is an old tradition. Most enslaved women nursed the children of their masters when they were refused the right to nurse their own. Doesn’t matter how uncomfortable people may be (usually due their own sexual interpretation of the breast organ) this tradition has helped to populate the planet.
