Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, is mingling this weekend with campaign contributors at a ski resort near Jackson Hole, Wyo.

WASHINGTON — The deepening economic recession hasn’t stopped members of Congress from throwing lavish events to raise campaign money for the 2010 election.
This weekend, donors to a political action committee run by Rep. Jeb Hensarling are invited to the Snake River Lodge & Spa near Jackson Hole, Wyo., for a ski outing hosted by the Texas Republican. The minimum donation: $2,500, according to the invitation, which touts opportunities to take sleigh rides to an elk refuge and snowmobile excursions to the Continental Divide.

Skiing also is on the agenda at a fundraiser this weekend in Vail, Colo., for Democrat Ed Perlmutter. Donations range from $2,400 for an individual to $5,000 for a political action committee.

Donors seeking warmer climes could have joined veteran Democratic Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii for a “Weekend of Aloha” fundraiser at a resort on Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach. Inouye’s event, held last weekend, started two days after lawmakers passed President Obama’s $787 billion plan aimed at jump-starting the economy. Lawmakers are on a week-long break and return Monday.

“Everyone is tightening their belts, but lawmakers are doing what they have always done: holding fundraisers in exotic locales,” said Nancy Watzman, who tracks political fundraising events for the watchdog group Sunlight Foundation. “This is the kind of thing that’s out of reach to most people, and it’s pretty much hidden from the public.”

Its time to move on from this story about this individual with 14 children. Its really making a lot of people steaming. The authorities should take her new borns away from her. She has no means to support these kids. The doctor involved should have his license taken away. I think this girl has some mental issues to deal with. She loves the attention. She needs help. She does not have an $800,000 hospital bill since she is mostly likely covered under the California Medicaid plan (welfare). Which means the CA taxpayers will be picking up the tab. Since CA’s govenor just sent out 10,000 pink slips to State employees, I think the puplic has every right to be angery. Lets hope the children are healthy or CA will be picking up the tab for their ongoing
care. Her foodstamp benefits have also just doubled-$450.00 for 6 kids now close to $1000.00 for 14. The recently laid off CA employees will get no more than $405.00 in unemploment insurance regardless of family size let alone a grand a month to purchase food. So go ahead give her money, donate diapers, buy her a house. Let the State workers the ran the Welfare programs and helped the needy collect their meager unemploment checks, lose their homes and struggle to feed their children. Maybe the next time she needs to go into the local welfare office to renew her benefits there won’t be anyone there to help her. Her consumption of CA tax dollars has an affect on CA residence. Well I’ve said my peace and will not be donating to the Sulman cause, I think my local food bank could put my $20.00 to better use. reminds me just how judgmental and ignorant some people can be. I worked nearly 35years with a good part of it with two jobs, one day I became disabled and 14 years were spent working in severe misery, not only did people say similar things about me but to this day people are very rude and turn others against me.
in fact the majority of my neighbors ignore me after only being here less than 6 months. the very reason I had to move in the first place. go figure, I guess some people have to much time on there hands.
