Eight Arrested in Phelps Bong Bust

0211phelps.jpg

First Michael Phelps was scrutinized by the media for pix of him apparently smoking marijuana -- and now, even the swimmer's street cred with his peers seems to be going up in smoke as his bongin' buds get busted!

According to WIS News in Columbia, Sheriff Leon Lott received flack after he publicly announced he would go after Phelps on criminal charges, but the Richland County Sheriff's Department has arrested eight people from the Phelps party -- seven for drug possession and one for distribution.

The owner of the bong that the tarnished Golden Boy was snapped holding is among the arrestees, after he tried selling the bong on eBay for as much as $100K. They don't call it dope for nothing!

When asked whether or not the Olympian should be prosecuted because of the picture, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford said, "I don't see what it gets at this point."

Kellogg's cereal was the only Phelps sponsor to drop him after the drug pix surfaced on the net.

Since I think most people agree that pot should be legal, I can’t help but wonder how in the world the majority shouldn’t rule on this issue. Comparing alcohol to marijuana, alcohol is the one that is addictive, a depressant, incites aggression and you can overdose on it. You will never see someone “stumbling around” from getting too high. It just isn’t possible. People who are against it should get their facts straight before condoning the punishment of otherwise law abiding citizens for preferring pot over alcohol. And Irene, if you read this, my sympathy goes out to you. What a horrible injustice for your poor brother and his loved ones. Everyone has an example of how alcohol ruins and takes lives, but only examples such as Irene’s can be used to show how pot will end your life. As a country we need to unite on this one and stop the hypocrisy and end the abuse that we are allowing decent people to be subjected to all in the name of the law.

Marijuana laws go against everything America stands for. The same politicians that are against pot will have no problem getting drunk every night at the bar or taking money from beer companies or bar owners.

They have their freedom to drink and get “high” off their choice of drug which is 1000 times more dangerous than pot but deny the rights of others to choose a less dangerous choice to relax and socialize with, just for the fact they don’t like the people it’s associated with.(Wille Nelson, Ted Turner and Tommy Chong)

Maybe they don’t like the fact pot dealers don’t give them contributions (payoffs) like alcohol companies. These people are truly as deceiving as the cult classic Reefer Madness movie from the 30’s.

DARE and other groups complain that Marijuana is a gateway drug…which is completely bogus…using their same logic, one could surmise that drinking water leads to alcoholism.
Maybe people do try other drugs after smoking pot and wonder “wow, this is not nearly as bad as they said…wonder if they lied about other harder drugs too”

This is the same Government that has been caught time and time again bringing cocaine and heroin into the country, even the former Schenectady police chief was caught. The former head of the DEA doesn’t call the CIA the “COCAINE IMPORT AUTHORITY” for no reason.
The bogus lies and half truths must end, stop locking up people and fining them for trying to exercise their basic American rights.

What is even more amazing is they allow all these commercials for prescription drugs on TV that have a list of side effects a mile long that are much more damaging than marijuana. Proves the buck theory. They don’t want you smoking a joint to relax after a 12 hour day of busting your hump as a tax slave for the Govt so they can bail out their bank buddies and give themselves raises each year.
Sure sometimes people have a bad reaction or experience with it. Just because peanut butter kills more people than marijuana, it doesn’t mean we have to lock people up to be beaten and raped in prison and to never get a job again for eating Peter Pan either. The law is much more damaging to society than the drug it’s self. I would hope the law makers and voters would take this into consideration and really think. Just remember when you are drinking that next cup of coffee…it was almost made as illegal as marijuana. You don’t see people getting killed for coffee….but you do see hyper active road raged caffeine addicts. Would you want to be beaten and raped and your children taken away because you want to enjoy a cup of coffee?

“Sweet for the Sweet and Dope for the Dopes” That’s how the old saying goes. It certainly applies to all of the low-life’s attacking the sheriff for doing his job. What a bunch of losers! And no not everyone is so stupid as to do drugs and shame on anyone who is so stupid to think so, they are obviously not playing with a full deck. While drugs are reality for brain-damaged fools who have no self-respect and no common sense, most of us have actual working brains, thank you very much. And law enforcement should go to court and get the names and addresses of all the sick selfish fools who are saying pot should be legalized. Those low-life’s are the type to go out and drive under the influence and get an innocent family killed just because they were too stupid to realize that pot is not the “harmless” drug they keep prattling about!

I don’t know about the war on drugs being a sham but I do know that all fools who do drugs should be a-sham-ed. And good for Kellogg’s. Keep standing up for what is right no matter how many fools rant and rave that you should cower to the might of the “celebrity”. Apparently they think that might makes right but that isn’t the reality. Many of these individuals are making a complete fool out of themselves but they haven’t got the sense to realize it. What a shame!

Why dont the police go find some of the people who are growing weed, and selling it all the time.
Seriously? Everybody smokes weed once in their life.

What a waste of taxpayer money at a time when we don’t have funds. The war on drugs is a sham and an assault on humanity.

My brother was arrested for buying his girlfriend a small bag of pot several years ago, after she repeatedly and consistently requested that he get her some “smoke.” It turned out that she was a narc and she used the same ploy to bust hundreds of innocent 16-year-olds, a practice that was later banned by the courts in the state where he was living.

My brother was sent to prison where he was raped, beaten and learned how to do hard drugs. He met meth dealers in jail, and became hooked on this terrible drug during his incarceration. He was later released under the probationary condition that he become a narc, which is a form of blackmail. My brother was murdered on Christmas Eve a few years ago during a sting while working for the police. They acted quickly to cover up any evidence that would implicate them in this senseless act.

During my brother’s years of incarceration and police cooperation, I learned that the narcs are no better than the drug dealers. Many are users themselves. There may be a few misguided, well-meaning souls in the vice squads that terrorize American families, but the vast majority are power-hungry, greedy thugs who take great delight in playing a game of cat-and-mouse for their own personal gain.

Narcs often sell the drugs they bust, and confiscate the personal property of those they arrest. There is also a great deal of money to be made in the running of jails, which are profitable businesses that constantly need a fresh influx of prisoners. They promote the drug war with vast quantities of illegal money through political action committees.

Do not be fooled by this or any other marijuana bust. The U.S. incarcerates more prisoners than all other countries combined, mostly due to our “War on Drugs.”

My story is not so uncommon, but most families are afraid to speak up about how the war on drugs has harmed them. These self-righteous drug warriors are the American equivalent of the Taliban.

A big part of why it is illegal:

The tobaco industry. Why? Because tobaco is a multi-million dollar industry and if Marajuana became legal they would lose millions of billions of dollars. Think about it.

Btw the “numb-nut” who posted the picture was the guy who owned the bong. He though he could sell it for 100,000 dollars. Turns out he only got arrested. Bummer.

First of all, to anyone who says that Phelps should be charged if everyone else is, I completely agree. Just because he’s an Olympian doesn’t mean he should get away with an illegal act (even though it shouldn’t be illegal in my opinion…but it still is..so live with it). BUT, to arrest 8 people and possibly Phelps for seeing a picture of ONLY HIM smoking what is supposedly weed (which is a total guess) is just ridiculous. If he wants to smoke and can still destroy Olympic records then more power to him. And to the Kellogg’s company…**** you. With a diet of his complexity and size, how do you know that he didn’t go out and buy out a Walmart of Kellogg’s cereal after he was done smoking. So screw Kellogg’s and keep on keepin’ on Michael Phelps.
