Ed McMahon Hospitalized

0227ed.jpg

Super sidekick Ed McMahon, 85, is in serious condition in a Los Angeles hospital, suffering from pneumonia and bone cancer.

It's been a rough go for Ed these past few years, with his financial and health issues making headlines in the twilight of the Johnny Carson sidekick's career. The former host of "Star Search," Ed has most recently been seen as a rapper in commercials for FreeCreditReport.com.

McMahon co-hosted the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, looking frail, but managed to get through the whole event.

NEXT: 'Breaking Bad' Premiere

Ed, I have watched you ever since I could crawl. I know that you had a good life and that you will know have a better life with the Lord.

I so saddened to hear about Ed. My prayers are with his family. I lost my Dad with colon cancer in 1991 and some of the fondest memories I have are sitting with my Dad and watching Johnny Carson and Ed and laughing until my side hurt! I can’t thank Ed (and Johnny) enough for those special times.

God’s speed for a full recovery as we ALL need you around much longer. You should be applauded for your many yrs of work with charity events (like MDA) and have carried what I believe an ambassador of American media is to icon status.

It appears that Mr. McMahon’s current life-threatening condition was caused or at least exacerbated by his mold exposure several years ago.

Cancer, pneumonia and immuno-suppressive illness such as Ed is suffering are common among the elderly who have been exposed to high levels of indoor toxigenic fungi.

I wonder if late-night talk shows will make fun of him THIS time?
