Brown & Rihanna: What Went Down

0211brownrihanna.jpg

The Chris Brown controversy continues today as a flood of new reports attempt to shed light on what really went down between the R&B singer and girlfriend Rihanna early Sunday morning.

New reports detail the extent of Rihanna's injuries, allegedly inflicted by Brown. People magazine says the 20-year-old singer suffered a black eye and bruises at the hand of Chris, while a police source tells the magazine that the altercation left Rihanna with "a swollen, split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead." E! online reported that Rihanna claimed to the LAPD that Chris choked her while threatening to kill her -- and she lost consciousness.

News outlets also suggest several different scenarios which may have sparked the heated argument. The NY Daily News reports that the "Umbrella" singer lost it when she found a text from another girl on Brown's phone -- citing a music industry source who revealed the details. The source claims that Rihanna attempted to leave the car after the blow-up, and Chris grabbed her to stop her from going. OK! magazine takes that theory one step further, suggesting that heiress Paris Hilton and Brown were flirty, which sparked the fight.

As speculation continues to surround the pre-Grammy incident, reports of canceled concerts and withdrawn radio plays circulate on the net. Rihanna has canceled a second concert which had been scheduled for Thursday in Indonesia, while Brown's songs continue to be pulled from airwaves due to the public outcry against him. The latest radio station to pull his tunes is B103.9 in South Florida. "We asked listeners what they thought," radio host Big Mama dished to NBC 2 News. "They want Chris Brown off the radio."

Today, "Extra" spoke exclusively with Brown's sister, Lytrell Bundy (aka Tootie) about the alleged attack. "He's always been a good boy -- never violent," Tootie says. When asked about how Chris is dealing with his arrest and the fallout, Tootie confesses, "He's doing good. He's coping... He's doing as... as to be expected."

Both Rihanna and Brown have stayed out of the public eye since the alleged altercation -- even foregoing the Grammy Awards, where both were scheduled to perform. Rihanna is said to be flying to Barbados to be with her family, while Brown -- rumored to be in Las Vegas -- is expected to lay low until his March 5 court date.

Great couple; great guys i think; they both are my favourite. But ya’ll know that sometimes there’s got to be conflict somewhere; just like it only has to happen else nothing could be said of the two. At least this may strengthen them in a way and when there back together they’ll know how to better handle related issues as such. Chris went too far to have inflicted the injuries he did and Rihanna on her own part perhaps should have thought of a better way of confronting him. Some guy can’t just take anything as they feel it is insulting to them. Good luck with the recovery guys en hope you two learn from it.

No matter what the facts are or who started what Chris Brown went so out of line. If this isn’t the first then Rihana should know this won’t be the last. She needs to move on from this disturbing relationship. As his music goes it’s hypocritical…to sing about love like if he knew anything about it. I hope he seriously seeks help.

oh and she’s the dumm one because she wants to get back with him. and supposebly dis isnt the first time they have this kind of fight. idk why his fans are turning back and not likeing him no more. his music life and personal life are two different things…so if you were a true fan you’d stick behind him no matter what! This stuff happens everyday but you don’t see people making a big deal about it. but no just cause he is famous and had a squeaky clean rep. And even rihanna has anger problems. so they both needa realize something…that they both needa say the truth for chris’s courtdate next week…RIHANNA NEEDS TO TELL THE TRUTH THAT SHE STARTED EVERYTHING!

I personily think no one will spaz out like that if she (Rihanna) had to do something to make him (Chris Brown) that made to hit her. Everyone is saying this it because of his pass in almost all cases like this it is cause of the parents. As for me that samething happened to me that’s why im not in a relationship so honestly I don’t think that he (Chris Brown) is resondsable.

I am truly sorry for the unfortunate incident that took place between Chris Brown and the beautiful Rihanna.I understand they are young and considered invincible, but they aren’t. These devastating acts occur hundreds of times a day between couples and believe me from personal experience, it doesn’t feel good knowing the person you love unconditionally is capable of committing such vicious acts against us. All I know is the two of them need to take this time to reaccess their future separatly and as a couple.Chris needs to accept responsibility first, ask
for forgiveness second, and focus on learning healthier ways to mnanage and eliminate unhealthy thoughts, actions and behaviors, he posses, which quite possibly could land him in another unfortunate event, where things could end up worse.Rihanna needs to recognize the reality that when you place your trust in man, this doesn’t mean you consider them incapable of causing any form of pain, be it emotionally, verbally, mentally,or physically. She has to learn to recognize any signs that her companion very well cause her harm in a serious manner.Sweety there are always signs, we just choose to brush them off when we see them.A man being controlling, over protective, or manipulating in any way for any reason, sees you as their property, which encourages them to treat you as though you are wrong and out of place, to stand up for yourself, is no man you honestly ever want to get or stay involved with.Being a victim of domestic violence by the hands of anyone, only will empower you in ways that will show you healthier ways to handle and to avoid these types of situations, if you allow it to.
In life we live and learn, and must continue to forgive ourselves, then forgive others if and when they do us any harm. Finally, never allow unfortunate events in life to take away your very unique and beautiful quality that makes up who you are, or affect your abailty to trust again.God Bless the two of you, and be with you both during this difficult time in your life…
Sincerely Yesterdays victim is today’s Hero…

It looks like a lot of abused women posting (with the typical, yet dangerous habit of defending the perpetrator) - NO ONE else would EVER think this behavior is alright

I have been hearing “hollywood” stories for nearly 50 years now. I have witnessed first hand more than my share of abuse. There are always two (2) sides to every story and this one with Chris Brown and Rihanna is no different than any other. The actual truth probably will never be known since neither side is going to tell the “absolute truth.” The truth will lie somewhere in the middle. No on has a right to put their hands on anyone—be it a man or a WOMAN. For the ones who believe a man should not hit a woman even if she hits him I say this: If a woman hits a man and he hits her back then that is filed under the category “it may not be right; but, I can certainly understand.” My advice is if you don’t want to receive a hit— don’t pass one. Countless stories will be told by many; mostly for their own personal gain; others will pass judgement; but, they do not wish to be judged and the rest will be busy giving their opinions but who asked them. There are too many “real” abuse cases in the world to be caught up in this “hollywood” glam. Too often an Hollywood incident such as this cause “regular people” abuse cases to go unnoticed. There are countless women, men and children out there who are being abused daily. But, these victims goes unnoticed because they are not a “celebrity.” I do not know Chris Brown or Rihanna. Whatever happened only they truly know. It is for them to resolve, not I. By the way, I am a woman and still a fan of the young ‘ums,Chris Brown and Rihanna.

I don’t agree with any human being hitting another, whether it be man or woman. He was wrong to have hit Rihanna yes and for that he will have to go through consequences like anybody else but that doesn’t mean that anyone should condemn and judge him like they know him personally. He’s young and still has a long life ahead of him to do some real soul searching and clean up his mess. It seems everyone is forgetting he’s a 19 yr old kid in the spotlight with no prior violent behavior. I love them both and hope both can move on and find some peace but I don’t sit here and put a veil over my eyes like Rihanna’s a little angel either. They both need counseling.
