Bikini Girl Creates Tension on 'Idol'

You're going to Hollywood! "American Idol" season 8 kicked off its first two days at the Kodak Theatre, where the group of hopefuls was cut down from 147 to 104. "Bikini Girl" Katrina Darrell is back -- and she again has the "American Idol" judges divided!

Darrell infamously sported an itsy-bitsy bikini and high-heels for her "Idol" audition in Phoenix. The 20-year-old California native sang her version of Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" and Simon Cowell immediately wanted to send her through to the next round. The female judges, Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul, quickly challenged her singing chops.

During the Hollywood round, DioGuardi said she started off liking Darrell's rendition of Faith Hill's "Breathe," but she ended up hating it. Cowell made a cat claw motion (with accompanying sounds!) and DioGuardi fired back, "Bring your pole tomorrow." Katrina was still able to advance.

actually IDOL is getting out of hand. They have to keep the viewers happy and top off the season before. I agree that there are alot of talented singers out there but they have to bring in the brainless to up their ratings. Adding that other female judge doesn’t work for me..I liked it when Paula was the only chick. They are an entertainment show and have to keep the ratings up. I used to like watching it, not anymore, once in a while , I will watch it, it is not the same anymore.

This girl is all about what is wrong with young women today. It sickens me that she sells out her virtue like she does. Haven’t we progressed beyond men thinking with their *&%#’s. Just shows how shallow Simon and Randy are.

i love bikini girl. kara is an old fart. i bet kara wouldn’t know what to do with the pole. you notice she said her smart remarks after she left because bikini girl can give it back to her.

well i think that bikini girl could go but kara has alot of good points and they never let her speak so what else is she suppose to do besides look at paula…. come on i think people are just jealous cuz they want a body like hers…. no she cant sing but maybe simon and randy want to see what america thinks or they think she can really sing… who knows….

the new judge is not really worth being there.. all she oes is look at paula and trys to say or does what she does. i think there should be some one with their own mind. some one to make a joke with out looking at paula to see if it is funny.

this is not a talent show anymore. this is who grabs people’s eyes. she is one of them. so is that guy with gunky glasses.. what happends to the real show. the one where i wante to watch?

I think American Idol will be losing an viewers due to the immorality. There are tallented people that a not getting a chance just so some bimbo who won’t actually win can be on the show….

I haven’t heard her sing, but all I know is this: whether she can sing or NOT, what does a BIKINI have to do with trying to win a musical TALENT contest?

It is sad indeed that even in this day and age, so many women still buy into the notion that their faces/bodies are commodities they can and should use for whatever ends.

Bikini Girl doesn’t sing bad, but she doesn’t sing good either..Definitely not good enough to make it to Hollywood..When she sings it looks like she cant breath and her whole head shakes..I am disgusted that Simon and Randy keep her on the show just because they think she is cute…What a joke

I doesn’t start off strong and beautiful and keeping her on the show just proves that American Idol is a joke. I can’t believe Randy’s wife doesn’t tell him to knock it off.

Bikini Girl… what can I say… she sucks really bad and they need to kick her off now. I can’t stand watching her. Her singing isn’t that good… she is really bad.

I think Bikini girl is an IDOT! She can’t sing and is showing young girls all over that you can sell yourself with your body. She makes me wanna puke!

I loved Simon’s “cat claws” and the sound he made!! He could be a good beatboxer; I thought it was a drum machine before they showed Simon doing the claw thing.

It’s time to send Katrini Bikini packing. Her voice isn’t too bad, but it starts off strong and beautiful, then it falls soft and flat. They are looking for a star and do not want a contestant with training wheels.
