The film "Slumdog Millionaire" nabbed the Golden Globe for Best Picture and the SAG award for Outstanding Ensemble -- but it almost didn't make it to the silver screen!

Last year, "Slumdog" was scheduled to go straight to DVD after Warner Independent, the production company behind the flick, went under.

Fox Searchlight, another indie branch of a big Hollywood studio, picked up the underdog Mumbai-based film -- and now, it's up for one of TInseltown's most prestigious awards!
