President Obama: Day One!

Just hours after his swearing-in ceremony, President Obama kicked off the night by dancing with wife Michelle to Beyoncé's rendition of "At Last" -- and that was just at the first ball!

The President attended ten inaugural balls last night, but made time to give ABC's Robin Roberts his first interview as Commander-in-Chief! "We're going to have a lot of work," Obama said of assuming office, "so tonight I'm just going to soak in the atmosphere."

First Lady Michelle revealed to ABC's Bob Woodruff that so far life in Washington isn't as crazy as it may seem -- and the changes that D.C. has brought to her family have been welcome! "It's a bit surreal," confessed Michelle. "We have had more normal now than we've had in a long time -- we have dinner with Barack every night and we haven't done that for two years."

Life may be calming down for the First family, but Hollywood is still on an inaugural high! Even superstar Beyoncé, who serenaded the first couple, was star-struck and humbled by the occasion. "I'm so proud of my country -- this man was born for this," the choked-up singer revealed to ABC. "I'm just so lucky to be a part of this history. It's probably the most important day of my life and I'm so grateful."

Hill Harper, Obama's friend from Harvard Law and "Extra's" D.C. tourguide, revealed that his future has changed too. "I'll never refer to him for the rest of my life by his first name. He will be Mr. President to me, even though I've known him 20 years -- he'll be Mr. Obama and Mr. President because he's earned that title -- that is who he is."

NEXT: Thursday: 'O' Force One!

for a guy that constantly makes tv appearances to drill us about what sad shape our economy and country is in.. he sure has no problem spending spending spending does he??

I think his notion of the the “little people” are all his sheep out there working their bottoms off for him, and his praise is all they need in return. While he lives the high life of “celebrity” with the rich and famous, his Obama Lamas wait for every precious word out of his mouth because he dangles that bait called “hope” over all their heads while their eyes make those hypnotic circles in wonderous aaahh..!!

Does it not scare anyone that there is “no wrong” coming from this man? Are no red flags going up that you actually know NOTHING about this man and what his intentions truly are? Does anything seem a bit “too perfect” to you?

Reality check is coming…

Only a few days as President, and our tax money is aiding in killing babies. And terrorist will now apparently see the “tender forgiveness” of a nation losing it’s backbone in the world! He’s off to a terrific start of making america the weakest of all nations. Not to mention VULNERABLE!

Just my thoughts.. carry on..

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton pledged Friday to overhaul U.S. foreign aid programs to increase assistance and give civilians a greater role in its delivery. But she warned that selling the public on the idea would be hard in troubled economic times. WHAT IS CLINTON THINKING WE NEED THE MONEY HERE IN THE U.S.

THE ‘ROE’ RULING

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade in 1973 that a Texas law criminalizing most abortions violated a woman’s constitutional right of privacy, which the court said was implicit in the due-process clause of the 14th Amendment.

“Jane Roe” was an alias used to shield the identity of Norma McCorvey, who sued Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade.

In the 7-2 decision, the court sought to balance a woman’s right to privacy with a state’s interest in regulating abortion. Only a “compelling state interest” would justify restrictions, it concluded. Legal challenges have limited the reach of Roe but not overturned it.
WASHINGTON — President Obama on Friday quietly ended the Bush administration’s ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option.
Liberal groups welcomed the decision, while abortion rights foes criticized the president.

Known as the “Mexico City policy,” the ban has been reinstated and then reversed by Republican and Democratic presidents since Ronald Reagan established it in 1984. Democrat Bill Clinton ended the ban in 1993, but Republican George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001 as one of his first acts in office.

After the meeting, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, questioned the size of the bill, now at $825 billion but expected to grow. “We expressed our concern about some of the spending that is being proposed in the House bill,” he said.” We’re borrowing this money from our kids.”

He said he doesn’t understand, for example, why the bill includes “hundreds of millions” of dollars for contraceptives. “How does that stimulate the economy?” he asked.

SOUNDS LIKE THINGS ARE HEADED DOWNHILL INSTEAD OF UPHILL. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT.

Obama revamps rules on detainees
Updated
President Obama signs an executive order closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay Thursday in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington.

WASHINGTON — President Obama unleashed a passionate debate about the treatment of terrorism suspects by ordering sweeping changes in the rules for interrogation and the closing of the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.
Acting swiftly on a campaign promise two days after his inauguration, Obama signed a series of executive orders Thursday that call for closing Guantanamo within a year and moving out its 245 remaining detainees, shuttering CIA prisons overseas, and prohibiting harsh interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, which gives the sensation of drowning.

THE OVAL: ‘Values and ideals’ drive U.S. policy

In reversing policies set by the Bush administration, Obama said he wanted to send a message to the world that the United States will pursue the struggle against terrorism “in a manner that is consistent with our values and our ideals.”

The actions set off a debate in Congress, where Republicans decried the possibility that terrorists such as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, would be transferred to military prisons in places such as California and Kansas.

WHAT THE HELL IS OBAMA THINKING? START HELPING US HERE IN AMERICA 1ST, DEAL WITH THOSE SOB’S LATER, OBAMA IS NOT PRIORITIZING, WE SHOULD ALL COME FIRST AND OUR SOLDIERS.

I loved seeing all the stars at the various balls in D.C. on Inaugural Day. The stars were just dazzled and in awe of President O’Bama and Michele O’Bama.

I loved the coverage on the Inaugural that was mentioned on l/21/09. Your coverage on the inaugural balls was excellent, especially all the entertainment from Beyonce to Kenye West. Mario lopez and the other anchors did a special job on the coverage. It was exceptional coverage. Extra is one of my favorite media shows.

Michelle’s dress for the ball was a total disaster. It looked like she got stuck between a glue factory and poultry processing plant.
